Buy this to upgrade your knife work.
This is a 5 out of 5 quality knife. It is scary sharp. The handle and bolster profiles make it easy and comfortable to both pinch-grip and handle grip depending on the task at hand.I also have a smaller Henckels Zwillig ice hardened 4 inch paring knife and this larger Milk Street Kitchin-Diji is a perfect team mate for when I am doing more robust food prep that still calls for precision and good control.I HIGHLY recommend this knife. And the price point is very attractive, as well.Do yourself a solid and add this to your kitchen armory.

Where has this knife been all my life?
I purchased this knife on impulse after watching Christopher Kimball demonstrated on one of his “Milk Street“ videos. I am quite particular about my cutlery, never buying sets but only individual knives that I know will serve a purpose in my kitchen. This knife was a size and shape that I wasn’t sure would be useful, but it has certainly proved its worth and then some.I can’t say enough good things about the design of this knife. It has a full tang, the handle is ergonomic and quite comfortable even for my large hands, and the knurling on the blade makes it easy to grip. Although the blade is of modest thickness, it is quite rigid and does well with even moderately rigorous chopping tasks.I find that I use this for almost everything, slicing and chopping garlic, shallots, scallions, small onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, anll kinds of fruit, and the list goes on. It even does a surprisingly good job as a boning knife, easily removing the bones from chicken thighs and other meat.It comes with a good edge on it already, and I have yet to have the need to sharpen it. Given how well it has held its edge up until now, I expect good performance in the future. If I had to describe this compared to other knives, I would say it has the agility of a petty knife, and the easy clearance of a chef knife (my knuckles never hit the cutting board while dicing). There are tasks that are still better suited for a larger or smaller knife, but this one has so many uses I think it would make a great addition to any kitchen.

Comfortable in the hand and sharp.
I love to cook, but the traditional knives for chopping are too big for me and no matter how much they say they are balanced I’m not comfortable using them. This is the perfect size knife for me. It’s a real gem! It’s sharp and just designed well. It fits well in my hand and is easy to use for day to day chopping. I bought both the serrated and flat blade. I highly recommend.

Impressive!
We are a week into using this knife and it's already become the most popular knife in my house. It fits perfectly in hand and provides a comfortable grip. The tip is perfect for paring while the blade is thick enough for chopping duties. Assuming the knife holds up well in the next month or so, I'm sure I'll be purchasing another! Highly recommended!

A Solid Choice with Some Caveats
As a home cook, I appreciate the design and feel of the Milk Street Kitchin-kiji Knife. It marries the best attributes of a Chinese cleaver and a Japanese vegetable knife (nakiri). Here are my thoughts:Comfortable Grip: The handle feels nice in the hand, providing a firm and sure grip. It’s comfortable to hold during extended use.Blade Length: The blade on the Kitchin-kiji is relatively short. For the price, I’d recommend considering other options. Wusthof, Tojiro, or Fujiwara FKN knives offer better value. These Kitchin-kiji knives should ideally be priced lower, perhaps around $30, considering their performance.

Nice knife-highly recommend
Very nice knife. Well balanced and fits nicely, holds easily. So far, the blade is very sharp after several uses. The blade is about the length of a paring knife, but a little wider-similar to a small chef’s cleaver. Its also very easy to dice with. Definitely recommend.
