Still works great after 5 years
After 5 years it still works as secondary gaming laptop drive. Perfect!

It Makes The Grade
If you've ever read my review on the Gold 1TB Touro drive, also purchased here, you know how important portable hard drives have come to mean to me in such a short time. I became a student at a local music school to learn engineering and production, so I was given one drive by them, but quickly upgraded to the Touro for aesthetics, more space and, what I thought at the time, faster access speed. I extolled its virtues for a couple years because it delivered on all points...until it couldn't. Turns out an SSD instead of an RPM kinda drive was what I shoulda had all along. That eventually led me to this - double the space and none of the RPM mess that killed this and another one. Well, a year plus later and I'm happy to have this, even though I had to throw a few adaptors for this to work on my 2015 MBRP (which will change eventually). It hasn't let me down at all. Dependable, sturdy, looks pretty good (especially now that I've outgrown my champagne gold phase)...I highly recommend this, even in a sea of other brands with more storage or popularity among creatives and professionals of all industries. It's amazing. Period.

Portable SSD's new leader in price to performance ratio (G-Drive vs. T5) WINDOWS USERS MUST REFORMAT THIS DRIVE
The new leader in affordable and portable SSD's. I have been doing a ton of video editing lately mainly digitizing and restoring old VHS tapes. The files I'm generating generally start out around 80gb's so while this purchase was somewhat of a whim, it was more necessity. I also recently purchased a Samsung T5 for the same purposes and it is as great as the dearth of reviews on it already state. It has a slightly smaller and lighter footprint than the G-Drive but head to head I'll take the G-Drive to get the extra ruggedized features. As far as speed, the G-Drive and T5 are blazing fast for external drives so no disappointment here that I didn't choose an internal SATA drive. The G-Drive specs out slightly faster than the T5 but in my usage there aren't any appreciable speed differences. The G-Drive and the T5 blow my mind on both 3.0 and 3.1 ports- I've never used any external drives as fast as these. I will definitely be purchasing another G-Drive SSD R because I prefer the ruggedized features and price-wise it's generally a better value (though not always) than the T5 on a per GB basis. I do not regret buying a T5, I believe in the end it will probably come down to price for most people when considering these two.Windows users must reformat the G-Drive as your machine will not recognize it. Unless you absolutely need cross platform use between MAC and PC just format the drive to NTFS as it is more stable than exFAT. There are very detailed OS specific reformatting instruction for NTFS and exFAT on the G Technologies support pages.*Purchased another one of these in the 1TB size and could not be more satisfied and confident with my storage/back up solution.

Best Rugged and Cross Platform SSD
This is the device I can trust for my files. I am a self employed software developer, and I need a device to store my tools and project, so I need a rugged device, and after doing research on the internet, I found out only this and Lacie Rugged SSD meet my expectation. But I choose this because it is way cheaper, and is from WD (I have a PC with WD hard drive over 4years). The speed is a little bit lower than expected, but it is stable. Also, the lower the SSD speed, the more chance it will be able to use on Mobile, I heard lots of people using the SanDisk Extreme SSD with Android, so I tried it with this and it works, I am not buying for this feature, but its nice to have. The only downside about this is you have to format it first to work with Windows, but the format software is included, so not an issue.Overall I am very happy with my purchase, 100% recommended.

LOVE this drive!
This drive arrived yesterday, on time. It's not much bigger than a credit card, extremely light. I was going to get a standard HD, but had a Lacie 4TB die within a few months. This drive is plug and play with my mac mini, just reformatted for encryption (took minutes, not hours). I selected this ssd because of its quality, materials used; aluminum internals for heat dispersion, been using constantly for 24 hours, still cool to touch, shock and waterproof to 1 meter. G-Tech originally a British company, so supporting European allies, and quality so high that Apple bought them. Excellent warranty, but not likely to fail since it's ssd. Super fast! All my movies look beautiful and play smoothly. Plugs into my mac mini Thunderbolt-3 ports, though only at usb-c speeds (i don't care; plays movies perfect, really fast data transfers). I'll never buy a standard drive again; only ssd from here on out, and will only be a G-tech or Lacie for full mac compatibility and quality.

WOW! Changed my workflow!
I'm a pro photographer and videographer and this works awesome! I edit my work 1/2 the year and allows me switch from my laptop to desktop while working on the same job. Examples: I shoot a wedding and create an adobe lightroom library for it on the drive and then cull my images anywhere I want and then plug the drive into my desktop and further edit the photos on my desktops big screen and faster processor. The drive itself is very small and is 1/2 the size of my hand...fits easily in my pants pocket! It's super durable as it's flash memory encased in a solid shell with breathable slats. It doesn't get hot, its silent and doesn't need additional AC. My only regret is that I didn't invest in the 2TB but the 1TB is fine for now as I finish up my editing. When I'm all done editing for my clients I then purchase inexpensive WD 8TB Drives for each year and archive them.
