Handy Training Tool with Some Quirks
These dummy rounds are made from Magpul’s proprietary hard polymer, completely inert with no primer, propellant, or explosive charge, making them safe for training. They’re designed for gun handling, reloading drills, malfunction clearing, and function checks, mimicking the weight and feel of live 5.56/.223 rounds. I’ve used them in my AR-15, and they load smoothly into standard 5.56 magazines, making them perfect for practicing reloads or teaching new shooters. Amazon and OpticsPlanet reviews praise their utility, with one user noting, “Excellent for malfunction drills—mix them in with live rounds to practice clearing jams” (web:2). They’re made in the USA, and at $5-$10 for a 5-pack, they’re a budget-friendly alternative to snap caps. The solid black color and Magpul logo make them easy to distinguish from live ammo, reducing any mix-up risk.

Great Quality and Value
Fits excellent in the magazine. I’d reckon they are a bit smaller (diameter wise) than standard 5.56. In a magazine that only fit 9 live ammunition, I was able to fit 10 of these. Overall, I’d recommend.

Light
I don’t own a gun but I just wanted dummy rounds as a prop and I mean they are nice.

Good, but could be brighter.
Works perfectly for function checks. Very durable. Only complaint is the color. A brighter orange or yellow color would easier to find when they go flying across the work shop during ejector tests. I had to use an orange oil paint marker to paint the tips. Used these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WL2PU3W?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Load and ejection malfunction
Literally useless, unless you load 3…I utilize snapcaps as a place holder for firearm safety in my house.Rifle: S&W M&P - 15I’ve cycled my rifle over 100 times. I want these to be good. But they’re not… They jam every time unless I load 3 in the magazine. For a snap cap, they work great. You just cant trust the eject or load function accurately.
