Brilliant
I’ve been shaping chainsaws for over 30 years either by hand and or machine, but this one is by far the best and takes the raking tooth down as well, really happy with this and yes it’s expensive but well worth the money if u use a chainsaw regularly, less accidents with a sharp saw!!Update been using it for 3 years needs replacing as the raker file is blunt it’s an amazing sharpener I don’t use it every time I sharpen (sometimes3-4 times a day as I sell logs) i have an electric and I can sharpen by hand but this one always sharpens perfectly each time I use it

Awesome piece of kit!
My poor old chainsaw was smoking/struggling and could barely cut through a 1" branch let alone a trunk! So easy to use and within 10 minutes my chainsaw was better than ever and back to A1 - awesome - so happy I purchased/saved so much time/grief and a quality piece of kit (beware the cheap/knock off versions out there that you will be lucky to get one use out of due to the inferior file quality)Worth every penny.

Absolutely brilliant.
Absolutely brilliant. This is the same file/guide named as being the big brand names such as Stihl and Husky. It is a doddle to use in the field and saves loads of time when sharpening by hand. Very effective too. If even brought back to life a (cheap) chain that I fitted to cut roots out of the earth, which I was very surprised at.

It works
This product works and my chainsaw is as good as new. The only drawback is the inadequate pictures on the packet which don't actually help when trying to work out how to use it. But that's what YouTube is for.

Great sharpener
It's a very good sharpener. Takes a little practice to master but definitely puts a good sharp edge on the chain, plus sharpens the depth gauge at the same time.

Brilliant quick and easy
What can I say but wow! Didn't believe by looking at it that it would make such a difference. I have hand sharpened for years with reasonable success but this has taken a sharp chain to a whole new level! It is so easy and comfortable to hold and because of the handle design it is very smooth to use. Truk a brilliant piece of kit that I couldn't recommend for the cost enough!

This tool works
At last a chain sharpener tool that works. My garage is littered with the various tools purchased over the years which have not worked.Consequently amassed over 20 chains which required sharpening over the years, luckily i kept them in a oil bath.Originally purchased the 4.0mm tool for my electric chain saw.Installed old chain and placed in vice gave each tooth three files, reversing saw in vice.Seemed too easy five minutes for first chain??? Tried it out on a 20cm diam log and it went through it like butter throwing out good sized chippings. The fact that it takes down the rakers as you file the teeth is genious.Quickly sharpened all my 4.0 mm file chains with such success that I purchased the 4.8mm tool and did all my larger chains. Now will not have to buy a new chain for years to come so the cost of tools is quickly recovered. This is a must buy.

Amazingly simple, quick and accurate
I puzzled over this tool for quite a while before ordering it; couldn't make sense from pictures or videos how the thing worked. Once it's in your hand and resting on the chain it becomes obvious. The guide bars are sitting on and indexing on the teeth. This is a big advantage.I've been using an Oregon metal jig for many years, and it worked fairly well until I got a new saw with narrower kerf and smaller file. With the Oregon tool, the tooth can lift, allowing the file to dive under the cutting edge. This tool keeps that tooth down. The Oregon jig allows the tooth to rise and move sideways, making the accuracy much less.I was concerned about freehanding after years with the Oregon tool guiding me. The plastic end caps on the Pferd make the cutting angle very obvious, and I suspect it is at least as accurate as the jig, because the tooth isn't moving as much.

Chain is like new
This was my first country property and I quickly learned that trees sometimes come down on their own in awkward places, like across the driveway. So I bought my first chainsaw. It got an early workout and soon needed sharpening. Did lots of online research into sharpening systems. This Pferd unit got very good reviews and apparently did not need any great deal of expertise to use it well. That turned out to be absolutely true. For the Pferd's first use the chain was back to new in less than 10 minutes, for a chainsaw with 18" bar. I've used it several times since and gotten quicker. Marvelous tool. Highly recommended.
