Review by a geeky intermediate hanger
Iāve been getting into hammock camping recently with at least a night out a month since last Oct using a basic, but very light 330cm (11ft) travel hammock (326g) and no bug defence. I primarily cycle camp so weight, pack ability and good, comfortable rest are rather important to me.Iām in Southern England and not needed bug protection till now (mid May). I suspected I might have needed something at the end of April but I was āluckyā with persistent drizzle potentially keeping the biting things at bay, though moths had been annoying.I hadnāt found an ideal solution of an add-on bug net that didnāt just create a load of bulk or faff in setup, and Iām not really a fan of the bottom entry type, so for under Ā£21 and loads of positive reviews, I thought I would give this a try.Initial bag opening impressions;Out of its plastic bag, and after removing the instruction sheet I weighed it in at 843g (not the claimed 780g)Not to worry, Iāve given it an instant diet by replacing the heavy daisy chain tree straps and hammock loops and the positively industrial, leaden, Carabiners, with Amsteel continuous loops which Iāll hang with lighter, longer UHMwPE straps using a Beckett Hitch knot so itās completely hardware free.I did swap out the pegs for something longer in a Y profile for better grip but that was an equal weightIt now weighs 667gIāve also measured the long edge at 280cm, not the claimed 290cmStill not a deal breakerThe next day now and Iāve just returned from a play in a little copse of trees with it for lunch and a coffee brew-upI hang it easy enough with my lighter setup, get in it and itās roomy enough for my 6ā2ā height and 85kg weight. I can easily get a flat diagonal lay, even on my side or in foetal position! I reckon itās fine for up to 6ā4ā as I had an arms length above and below me.I then get out of it and fit the midway shockcord tie outs. They do add structure, and a bit of stability. But for me whom hasnāt had such a thing on previous hammocks, they add faff, a bit of a hazard when getting in/out, and I canāt help but worry they will one day tear out the seam.I didnāt find the net hung in my face without them and they also add weight, so I wonāt bother with those, so donāt need pegs either. My full hammock setup is now down to 620g Iām pleased with that. The hammock also comes with a shockcord ridgeline that toggles into two green loops at either end internally. This is useful for helping to preset sag to get your flatter diagonal lay. Itās also good to stabilise the net and hang glasses from! Itās also stretchy, so a little imprecise for the job of sag setting and itās comparatively heavy especially with the two plastic toggles.I can see myself swapping it out to lighter amsteel or UHMwPE fixed line soon and save a couple of extra grams.I plan to spend an actual night in it in about two weeks time so Iāll try and remember to come back and update this text and my star ratings then. But for now, itās a 10th the price of an equivalent equipped American Cottage made brand here in the UK and with my mods itās also coming up lighter than one of them claims to be (and they donāt include suspension in their weights) it will be interesting to see what the longevity is. If I account for the actual cost of my mods, which I already had and just transferred across itās still only a 5th the price.Update; Iāve used this for two nights now, I created my own UHMwPE structural ridge to preset sag for a comfy diagonal lay. I had to do this externally though as the internal tie loops couldnāt take the strain, so I got rid of the internal shockcord ridgeline they give you and it still works great, with correct sag and diagonal lay the bug net was staying off my face.My operating weight with it now is 611g! Just donāt forget that on top of that even in summer in Britain youāll still want a tarp and either an underquilt or wide sleep mat to reduce heat loss. The zips do get a little catchy, so treat them with respect.

Impressive, lightweight, deep and comfy
Iām fortunate to have two big trees in my garden that are the ideal width apart to have a hammock set up between them, and for the last 15 years, Iāve spent many a warm day enjoying being outside, reclined comfortably in a hammock, whiling the day away in chilled out bliss.Iāve had a few hammocks over the years, of different styles and materials. I bought this one because it would be the first Iāve had with a mosquito net and, even though we donāt really get mosquitoes here, it would keep other flying beasties like flies, wasps and the odd dragon at bay, lol.Setting the hammock up is simple, and one of the first things that impressed me was the adjustable tree straps with multiple holes for different heights, and the carabiner to attach to the hammock. My older hammocks all require you to wrap ropes round the tree at the exact height you want, so I appreciated the flexibility and convenience the straps offer. This hammock is incredibly lightweight, and you might think at first it might struggle to hold you. However, it happily holds my 6ft, 23 stone mass without any problem. Itās very deep, and you sink in to its welcoming embrace with ease. Itās very comfortable, I havenāt even been using a pillow for my head as Iāve done with my others.Iām disabled, after breaking my back years ago in an extreme sports accident, so donāt have a particularly strong lower back anymore⦠and this has created a bit of a problem with this hammock⦠because itās so deep, and the lightweight structure tends to fold around you, I have more difficulty getting out of this hammock than any of my others, to the point where my efforts to get out look somewhat comedic to anyone watching.Yesterday I was stuck to the point where I was about to call a friend for him to come round and help me escape! I genuinely couldnāt get out. In the end, I managed, but it was by throwing myself backwards with my feet in the air and landing on my head and shoulder somewhat painfully on the rough ground below. Because of this, I wonāt be using this hammock when Iām on my own anymore, Iāll be using my trusty old net hammock that I can dismount from easily and much more gracefully! Someone with a healthy back might not have any problem getting out, but this has never happened to me with any other hammock so itās worth noting. If I have company who can help me get out, this will be my hammock of choice, but when hammocking solo, I wonāt risk imprisonment again! Thatās the only reason Iāve given this 4 stars instead of 5, in every other aspect itās fantastic.I bought this hammock on a deal and it was an amazing price for the quality of the product received, even at full price itās great value. I can recommend it fully, with just the getting out experience as a fact for caution, but itās still a brilliant hammock,Two thumbs up šš»šš»

grandson loves it.
ordered on behalf of my grandson for his bushcraft outings, he loved its affordable price, how lightweight and packability. he was previously been borrowing one from a friend until he could afford his own. he has tried it alongside his friends rather more expensive one, and couldn't believe how little a difference there was between the two. he lives how small it packs down, how extremely lightweight it is, and how strong it is, he's not a small lad. the money he saved by buying this will now go towards o e of those quilts to fit beneath it. I doubt we'll be seeing much of him from now on.
