Victor Easy Set Mouse Traps (Pack of 12)

Relatively easy to set up and does it's job when it triggers. The only problem was setting the bait end "too high" which caused the trap not to trigger. Essentially needed the bait at to be at or lower then a 30 degree angle (versus a 45 degree that the trap can "set to").Only one or two were so finicky to set that I just tossed them out to avoid catching my finger trying to set them just right. Overall great product for the price!

I like the Victor traps better than other brands. The quality is better in that the trap doesn't spring just because you place it on the floor after you set it. I like the ones with the large plastic high step tongue. They are a LOT easier to set. I always purchase these and they are always perfect.

I much prefer these traps over similar ones with a little metal bait holder. I've actually had mice eat the bait off those other traps without tripping the trap. With these traps they have to climb onto the yellow platform if you put the bait in the middle and it's guaranteed to trip the trap. I've read reviews that say these are too sensitive and impossible to set. I suspect the problem is that they are putting too much bait on the trap and the bait is heavy enough to trip the trap. I had that problem when I was probably putting way too much peanut butter on the trap. You only need a little; they have very sensitive noses. I read on the internet that mice tend to avoid traps that have human smell on them so it's best to use gloves when setting the traps. I don't know how true that is, but mice have been avoiding my other traps that I handled. This time I used gloves and caught a mouse within an hour of placing the trap in my bedroom in the middle of the day, so it's something to try. If you want to use these on carpeting you may want to tape them to a piece of paper or cardboard. The mouse I just caught got hit in the head and got blood on the floor. It doesn't happen often, but if it does you don't want blood stains on your carpet. Also most people will just throw away the trap with the dead mouse, but you may want to consider removing the dead mouse from the trap and reusing it. I've read that used traps are even better because they smell like mouse and so mice are less wary of them.

They work but they do not seem to trip and easily as they should. With that said I have caught mice with them. The ones with the metal tab instead of the yellow plate seem to work a little better.

These traps have changed and are now very dangersous to your fingers. I have used Victor traps for years and have always had those with the swiss cheese appearance. Those set easily and worked well. The new ones I received have the plastic paddle with a 'V' cut in it. This new design seems to have a much stronger spring and to be missing a little lip that caught the trigger. I threw several away because they wouldn't remain set, going off in mid air as I moved them to a horizontal position. I have tried setting them from firm to sensitive which makes no difference. If you put the paddle at a very upright position you may get it to remain set, but then it is too firm to go off when mice are feeding. Hope they go back to the original design.More info: I have altered the design by adding 3/16 inch holes to the paddle. This decreases the weight of the paddle making it somewhat easier to set. I'm not changing my rating because you should not have to re-engineer someone's product.

I hear people responding to my headline. Well, no I am not re-homing them. They are in my home and so I do not poison them and other animals, this is the BEST Choice. Put a little peanut butter on the end, set them up and I use copy paper lids. Place them inside and you can set them gently down. The mouse WILL get to that peanut butter and you will get that mouse. It is in a contained lid that makes pickup and disposal very easy. Most of the time the lid is good to reuse and get another. Banker box lids work well too.

Ok, I had a mouse in the house. Tried those sticky pads but the mouse danced all over the top but didn't get stuck. My fingers did, but not the mouse. Tried tube traps but nothing. Then I tried these. Didn't work right away. What I realized was the mouse was avoiding it because it was finding food in my pantry. Found evidence so I completely removed anything that had cardboard. they can eat through that. Just cans, jars sealed containers now. With their food source gone, they checked out the traps. This trap is quick and does the job instantly. No pain because it is so instant. They work but make sure your pantry and cupboards are free of cardboard boxes.
