Absolutely Great In Wall Speakers but the dog ear mounting system needs some re work!
Unbelievable sound reproduction and quality build! Only problem is that the "dog ears" dont fully swing out to grasp the back side of the drywall!! The machine screws that thread into the brass? inserts in the plastic dog ears dont have enough friction between the machine screw and cast in nut so when turning the screws CW to grasp the back side of the drywall the dog ears just stay flopped down and dont swing up 90 degrees to grab the back of the drywall . My fix ( I like these speakers so much I dont want to return them) was to take a "quick punch" and punch 3 or 4 dimples in the machine screw threads to create a little deformation in the threads so now the dog ears will swing out 90 degrees and when continuing to turn the screw the tabs stay "swung" out and allow you to actually tighten the speaker into the dry wall opening. Hopefully the German ELAC engineers can do a simple fix to this as I also just ordered the In Wall Debut IW-DC51-W Center Channel Speaker hope that it doesnt have the same problem! PS: These speakers are apparently made in the USA or Germany as there isnt any markings on the boxes that indicate "Made in China"?

Great sound, Great price, Hopefully Amazon doesn't break yours in shipping.
I REALLY want to give these 5 stars. They sound fantastic, look fantastic, and are easy to install. They sound better than any other in-wall I've heard for under $2k... Paired with the debut 2.0 center and the debut 3.0 on-wall surrounds. VERY good bass after some equalization.I'm knocking off a star because one of them came with the corner cracked. Honestly, this probably wasn't Elac's fault, Amazon packed them in the goofiest way. For some reason they took two of them, each in their own box already, and put them into a GIANT box, with a small piece of packing paper between them to keep them protected. They made it all the way to me and somehow that was the only damage.

Amazing value when on SALE.
I've been an ELAC fan since the B6.2S came out. I use these as surrounds in my 5.1.4 game room home theater set up. They are paired with the ELAC UniFi 2.0s and blend really well. I currently own 18 ELAC speakers total and it's because they sound incredible for Home Theater and 2 chanel listening, especially when on SALE.

No cabinets may be causing a fidelity loss
Sounds shallow. Maybe it’s because they don’t have a cabinets. I haven’t yet installed them in the wall. Just listening to them ‘free form’. I have purchased several Andrew Jones designed speakers by Pioneer, and expected these Elacs to be considerably better. I was disappointed. Perhaps it’s also the 6.5 woofer instead of 4 and 5 inch speakers. Very bright on the top end though.

Mounting system could be better and you will need a sub but they sound good mid to high
Mids and highs sound amazing. Limited bass... needs to be teamed up with subs. Zero distortion at high volume. The mounting system could really be improved big time...the tabs to hold the speaker in the wall will not flip out on their own...you might have to punch a dimple in the threads of the mounting screws to make the flip happen, a real drag. This could easily be solved by changing the design of the plastic ramp on the speaker. The grill is not totally flush. They should look at the grill design of the Yamahas... the mounting system in the Bose but keep their own bright sound. Overall I'm happy but the product is not perfect. Wish they cost $150 each. Don't buy the companion mid speaker because it's 16.5" wide unless you want to start cutting studs which is a really bad design choice on that model speaker. Use this for the mid to fit speaker in the wall easily. Made in China.

Fantastic, what else can I say
Fantastic, what else can I say. I am using these as my rear speakers for my 5.1 system and wow. Klipsch, definitive technology and speakercraft listen up. These Elac' s can hang with the best of them if not beat them. Thank you Elac.

Hard to mount
The turning legs simply do not function because of a design flaw.

Got issues. Requires a sub.
With big brand and high price come certain expectations. Resolution is great. Sound is tad bright. But play a sound wave and this is NOT a clean speaker. Tons of valleys. Base is gone from 500 Hz down. So if you don't plan on a subwoofer - this speaker is not for you! (and I'm not a base head). Not a standalone speaker for certain.
