Works great, time saver
This worked great. It was so easy, I attached the hose to my shop vac and sanded. There was no mess, the dust went straight to the shop vac. This saved me so much time cleaning up.

Very little dust when using this sander with a shop vac.
This sander was amazing! I am a diy person with a bathroom that needed a lot of sheet rock repairs, including skim coating. I purchased this months ago, but just recently got around to this particular project. I expected this sander to reduce the dust, but I was amazed at how much dust it was able to eliminate by sanding with this device. There wasn't any dust residue on the floor or trim while using this. I will have a lot of sanding to do on wood as well, and I will certainly be using this. You can buy more abrasive sponges for it for other projects, just make sure they are the same thickness as the sponge that comes with it. Some of the sanding sponges I have are thinner. If you have any sanding projects to do inside your home, I highly recommend this sanding tool. The money is well worth it.

Good but not Miraculous
I used this to sand a small drywall patch (1 sq foot in total). The goal was to eliminate the horrible dust that gets blown around the house when doing this in the winter. Well, it worked fine. Dust was mostly captured by the shop vac which was stationed outside (hose routed through a mostly-closed window in the cold winter). But dust is still retained in the sponge and falls to the floor. So only about 75% of the dust is vacuumed. Good, not great. But what do you expect for this price?

I wish I knew of this sooner, it works great containing the mess from sanding drywall
I wish I knew of this year ago. It works well for catching most if not all the dust from sanding drywall. You do have to take a bit more time and care sanding to make sure the dust is captured, but it far outweighs the time it would take to clean up the dust otherwise. The sanding pads are readily available and last a pretty good time. The adapter to a shop vac hose works okay. I made an adapter (3D printed) so I could connect to a smaller shop vac hose than the 2 inch one. You can get pretty close in to corners but not all the way. For corners I take the sanding pad out and hold the yellow sanding pad holder into the corner below where I am sanding and it captures most of the dust.

Clean Sanding, Messy Attachments
The HYDE 9160 Dust-Free Sponge Sander has brought a refreshing breeze to my DIY projects, aligning seamlessly with the common need for a cleaner sanding experience. The sponge design works wonders in reducing dust, sparing me from the inevitable cleanup marathon. However, the con lies in its multitude of attachments – it's a bit overwhelming. While the intentions are good, having too many attachments during sanding becomes a bit cumbersome, disrupting the flow of the task at hand. Despite the attachment overload, the HYDE 9160 remains a reliable companion for those prioritizing a dust-free sanding journey.

Why didn't I find this sooner?
I used the sander the first day it arrived. Frankly, after reading some of the reviews, I was skeptical. Well, I needn't have been. The sander is perfect for my project of repairing old plaster walls in a linen closet. After days of being covered in dust from head to toe, followed by the dreaded clean up, I was ecstatic to sand down one entire wall with barely a speck of dust anywhere.I should mention that the sander, for me, was not ready to use out of the box. It comes with two sanding sponges,. but I needed a coarser grit, and the ones I have were about an inch too long to fit the sander's holder. No problem. I used one that came with the sander as a guide, and sliced right through the one I intended to use witha razor cutter. One, two...mission accomplished. Also, the hose didn't fit my shop vac's hose with the adaptor. Without the adaper, the sander's hose was slightly larger than my vac's hose. Duct tape to the rescue. I tucked the vac's hose inside the sander's hose, and sealed them with two layers of duct tape The fist was snug and tight, with no loss of suction. Both were minor adjustment well worth the effort to use the dust eliminating sander. It is lightweight and flexible, so small out of the way spaces are easy to reach. And again, not a speck of dust. I am amazed.

Junk
I was really looking forward to this, then I was disappointed when I tried to use it.It is too small to fit any of the good quality sanding sponges I already have, you have to use the sponges supplied. It also doesn't work at sucking up the drywall dust while sanding, even from a light sanding on a small area, it collected around the edges of the yellow part and then all of that collected dust fell all over the place when I pulled my hand away from the wall. Junk.

Nice tool to have as a DIYer
As a DIYer the one thing I personally hate with any project is the CLEANUP.So as a father of 3 kids - as you can expect - walls become an issue in the home. You know.. magical dents, plumbing disasters, running ethernet cable or romex.. all results in holes in the drywall that require patching which sanding is a important step..Sanding that dusts a whole furnished room.. which results in extra additional cleanup and in some cases worse than the patch project itself. So this uses the same sanding sponges I personally utilize and does make a huge difference. Its not 100% clean - but from my non scientific eyes - it feels like it gets 75-80% of the dust caused by sanding drywall. My cleanup was more localized to the work area rather than caking the room in dust which I will take any day!I've patched walls in the ktichen, bathroom and walk in closet so far and cleanup as been a breeze.Good Buy!
