Good router but if you're experiencing random wifi connection drops, have Verizon check your ONT
Upgraded to the G3100 from a very old Fios Actiontec router. The old router was having trouble maintaining connections for 4 -5 active users (parents on work/video calls + kids doing remote learning). Replaced the router and saw significant improvement in speed test and stability with wifi connections. Even with our basic 75/75 service, we were getting nearly full speeds for upload/download (previously we weren't getting full speeds). Was very happy with that. Our house is decently sized too about 5000 sqft with the router on the top floor. The first 2 weeks were great. We saw very stable connections to laptops, TVs, mobile devices--even the TV in the basement where I previously needed an extender was able to support streaming in 4k over wifi. After 2 weeks, we started seeing unexpected drops. We were bummed!! Did an exhaustive search through the advanced router logs to identify the problem, but unfortunately the logs were not helpful. Our devices were connecting to the G3100, but the G3100 was not connecting to the internet (showing yellow circle on front of the device). So either it was a HW issue with the 3100 or something upstream on the Verizon side. Called Verizon and they discovered power fluctuations in the ONT (upstream from the G3100). They dispatched a tech to replace it. The tech Mike came and swapped ours out (apparently we had an old ONT) in about an hour. No cost to me to replace the ONT since it was on the Verizon side. Since then everything has been fantastic!Thought I would share our experience in case others out there are having similar issues. Good luck and happy streaming!

G3100 Router Solved My Problems
Wow! I am totally impressed with this router thus far. I just received it, so I will monitor it over time. I had been dealing with my internet connection dropping sporadically at times. There were times that the internet connection totally dropped consistently every night between 9:30 PM thru 12:00 AM, and as I said before, randomly. I have 3 floors, so I began to wonder what the issue was. I became concerned that maybe my router wan't sufficient since I have 2 printers, 2 Smart TV's, 3 computers and 3 cell phones connecting to the network. Well, after disconnecting this router:Verizon RouterActiontec Wireless Broadband Router, Model MI424WRFrequency Band. 2.4 GHz.Status Indicators. I didn't cancel because I really needed the router and I was glad I didn't cancel. I contacted the seller for details and explained that the shipment got lost somehow. Kudos to the seller for extending excellent customer service!

No need to buy from Verizon
This an actual Verizon Fios G3100. The box doesnt come with the Verizon Fios white box sleeve which has the instructions. It is in the brown box which is the Verizon box. A Verizon service rep told me this router will not work properly bc I bought it off Amazon. I asked questions on Amazon and both the seller and customers were fantastic with their response an answers. As soon as you hook the router up, it will reboot a couple times possibly bc of firmware updates which the Verizon rep told me I would not be able to update the firmware. I had old set top boxes which worked after properly after I rebooted them. Before you return your old router, you will need to call Verizon to make sure it is recognized on the account before they remove the rental fee. You will also need an order number for the return before the store will take it.I also returned my old set top boxes for the newer Fios TV One boxes. This router will work with the new Fios TV One boxes!!!! Unfortunately it is a one time $50 equipment upgrade fee for any rented equipment.Everything about this router except the power adapter. My router is about 4ft on the top of my desk. The power adapter cord is about 3ft long and does not reach my surge protector. I have Gigabit connection and getting speeds passed 900Mbps down and up. The old Fips G1100 was around 800Mbps. I turned my D-Link DIR882 into an access point since the G3100 is in the basement.

Expensive but reliable
This product was very expensive but saved me a little bit over buying directly from Verizon. At the time, it was the fastest router that was officially approved to work with Fios. I didn't want to take a chance with unapproved routers, so ended up buying this. I have no regrets. It is fast, provides a strong signal all around the house, and is very reliable. I have never had to reset the router due to internet or WiFi going out. Not sure if that is because of the router or because I switched to Fios (from cable internet), but I am very happy. One thing I don't like is I can't tell if this thing updates its own firmware automatically or not. I can't find any update settings in the online interface.
