Q: What type batteries does it use?

Use's a 9 volt battery. You will have to unscrew 2 screws on back and replace battery the same way as you pull out of housing area.

Q: Can see clearly enough, can it test capacitors?

Yes. It can test caps. No issue. My problem is it lasted less than a year and started throwing crazy numbers. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Q: Does this read thermal temperatures

It comes with a K10 temp sensor and reads temps accurately. Don’t know the entire range but covers everything we need for HVAC. Best meter I ever had

Q: Is it rated cat i, ii, or iii…?

Bang for buck

I have ordered 6 or so of these for Maintenance Technicians. No issues with any of them. Very accurate, easy to read screen. The temperature probe is handy for checking the temperature at registers. This multi-meter is unbeatable for the price.

Best meter I’ve had

Best meter I’ve ever had. I used to use the cheap ones a lot because they did the same thing, but those only lasted around 6-12 months before they failed. I really appreciate the magnet on the back to hold it while I’m working. If this thing were to fail I will definitely buy another one.

It’s fieldpiece what more do I need say?

Love the compact size and built in magnet is strong, I have a fluke meter to compare this too and ofcourse the fluke gets readings faster than this one but on every other category they’re neck and neck so for being $60 dollars less than the fluke this is a good buy for price as a hvac technician.
