Nice change of pace in books for me. Usually read thrillers, espionage, mysteries etc. But I also enjoy an Easy read, not complicated, great plot and enjoyable story. Grabbed my attention right away, intriguing and couldn't wait to read the next chapters. Recommend to anyone that likes a good drama and a little love story.!

Compelling story of love in a terribly difficult time in America. Brought into the present day with a heartfelt closure.

What a truly beautiful love story. It cuts deep into your heart. So different from anything I have read. A mother's undying love for her child and her undying love for an unknown stranger. Just wow! You do not want to miss this one.

With racism, poverty and love all a risk, this book encourages us to know there is always hope in doing the right thing.

In my honest opinion, this my not be her best writing, but is absolutely her best story! Heartfelt and real, it evokes the images of the past and the raw emotions of raising an autistic child during those times. Add in a good love story and you have a great read!

I read this book because it is the book club choice for the month. The Depression setting is interesting and probably quite accurate. The characters are realistic and sympathetic. In most ways it’s a sweet story.
