this stuff works great! the people that got blotches im sorry to say DID NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. You wipe the first part off . you HOLD the hair up to apply away from the scalp with long gentle strokes. let dry 1 minute.if you held the hair up and applied you would have not got it on your scalp. sorry someone had to say it.

Love this cover-up for my grays. It goes on well and you can’t tell it’s on my hair. Nice to use in between my hair appointments.

I specifically use this product for my front edges. It is a quick application, that blends in perfectly with my black hair and is not messy at all. I will never go back to the spray as you can never quite perfect where it lands, no matter how hard you try. I would have given this a 5-star review but lately, it seems like L’Oréal is scaling back and/or discontinuing Black, which is an issue for me. I hope they will rectify this, else I will need to find another option and don't really want to.

I love using this on my gray hairs in-between coloring. I can precisely apply it to my roots and it covers the grays nicely. It also washes out easily so I don’t have to worry about any residue left in my hair. I like it better than the spray since the sprays sometimes gets on your skin or counters. This only goes where I put it. I wish it came in a bigger tube though as I seem to go through these very quickly.

So, this product DOES do what it says. In fact, it holds up somewhat even after a wash (which can be good or bad depending on how you feel about the product once it's applied). It's super easy to apply and target exactly where you want it, so much better than sprays. So there's the good news.The bad news, as other reviewers have stated, it's very sticky and stiff once applied. And it looks unnaturally dark. I decided to go with a lighter shade next time but it just doesn't seem available so I'm not sure whether I'll get it again. I ended up rubbing the area thoroughly with a wet rag immediately after applying it just to make it look a little more natural. It didn't remove all the color and it did help with the over-dark look.Overall, I'd say this is great for an emergency situation but I am not going to make it a regular part of my coloring routine. Unfortunately I've reached that stage of gray where the gray roots show significantly earlier than I ought to be re-coloring, so I do need to find a good in-between solution.

The spray version is hard to apply precisely and slowly so I thought I’d try this for more control. Unfortunately, all it did was leave dots of color on my grey and it did not blend. Like, at all. Just terrible. I tried with the attached brush, with other brushes, my fingers…nothing worked.My only issue with the spray from this line is how imprecise and fast/powerful it is; I’ve had to hold up a round makeup container against my skin to prevent the spray from going on my face when I only want it on my hairline. That’s still way better than this. It’s messy, but instant and effective.This was “neat” but useless.

I’ve been using this product a long time. It helps to cover the grays or white hair at the hair line in front sides or back. You can use it to cover the parts in your hair. Keep in mind it’s Temporary. Don’t touch your hair or scratch your scalp. It will rub off on your hands and get under your nails. Don’t not use if you have oily scalp or oily hair. If your sweat on your head it will be black running down your face. I do not use it in the summer for that reason. Cover your head when going to bed it will rub off on your pillow case. Overall it’s a very good product. Last a couple of days until you wash it out.

My hair grows fast and I don’t have the time or energy to get my hair dyed every 3 weeks. I love that I can quickly cover up my roots and along my temples with this. I can throw it in my bag if I need to touch up mid day because mornings are chaos for me lol. I order this regularly but it did take me a bit of time to learn how to apply without making it blotchy. This might just be a me thing, but now I’m much more gentle and precise when I apply because I know if I press too hard or if I have too much dye on the applicator it won’t look great. With that knowledge, this is a must have for me.
