Recipes are time consuming
The book is great, but these are not fast weeknight recipes. I learned a lot, but I was really looking for recipes that I could do easily and quickly on weeknights. This is not that, it is good if you have prepping and planning time plus time to do 8-12 steps per recipes. I know failing to plan is planning to fail but life with kids changes so fast. Still on the lookout for healthy recipes on the go.

Perfect for Toddlers and Picky Husbands!
Double Delicious!: Good, Simple Food for Busy, Complicated LivesDeceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food For years, I swore up and down that I would never, ever do the "hiding the veggies" things. Well, that was before I had a toddler. My friend brought some carrot cake muffins from Seinfeld's first book to playgroup and we inhaled them. While my toddler will try veggies, he won't actively eat them, and though he eats well otherwise, I want him to get the vitamins and nutrients. I bought both of her books on a whim after playgroup, figuring it was worth a shot. So far I have made 3 things, and my husband, myself and my son have all had multiple servings of each! The recipes are easy and straightforward and easily adaptable (we keep a mainly Paleo diet). Everything is delicious and has my toddler asking for "more, more, more." Additionally, my husband brought the turkey meatloaf into work to share with his coworkers and they all loved it, and couldn't believe what was hiding inside!I recommend this book to anyone, not just moms of picky toddlers. My husband and I are very good about getting in more than our daily recommended amount of veggies, but it can't hurt to get in a few more. This book makes it easy and delicious! My only complaint is that we are both Paleo and keep kosher, so many recipes can't be used, or have to be adapted, but that's a choice we made, so it's nothing against the book.

Too many negative reviews for a great cookbook.....
WOW! I truly don't understand all the negative reviews, it almost kept me from buying this book. Maybe all the negative reviews are from professional chefs, but I am not one of them. I'm just a stay at home mom looking for variety. I just purchased the e-book version of this book so I haven't tried any of the recipes, but I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy most of them. Yes, some of the recipes call for a few more ingredients then I was hoping for, but that's ok. I noticed a lot of reviews complained about the time it took to "puree" the vegetables for the recipes, but honestly, if you plan your meals ahead of time, you'd only need to puree what you need, or better yet, by baby food. It's really not that big of a deal. Also, if you don't like that she uses fat free milk or low fat cheese, then by all means, change it up. I can not wait to start making some of these meals, and the e-book version worked just fine for me, no problems. In fact, this is probably one of the best e-book cookbooks I have bought, and I've bought a few, all of them were a waste of money. Thank you Jessica Seinfeld for a wonderful cookbook.

Exactly what it claims to be
This book is just what the title says: fast, easy, healthy food for busy families and people. I have to customize a lot of the recipes because I don't necessarily eat all of the ingredients she uses, but I'm used to that. That doesn't take away from the value of the book. The format is cute, the spiral binding is very handy, there are plenty of great full-page photos (I'm a sucker for photos!) and the recipes all seem to have a lot of potential. I've only tried one (just got the book), and that was the butternut tomato soup. It was delicious and I later added some additional spices to the leftovers, which was also delicious. Again, I expect that, spices are very much a matter of personal taste. (I tossed in turmeric, garlic, ginger and some sun dried tomatoes - it was very good.)People seem to be perturbed that she offered new and additional recipes when she appeared on Oprah - that seems like a plus, not a minus. Those recipes are on the Oprah site. They were not quite as health-conscious as the book is, but she states up front in the book that she had someone consult and only edit in the most healthy recipes, and that left to her own devices, Jessica says she eats healthy but incorporates a bit more food that wouldn't pass muster. Which is why that gooey crock pot lasagna didn't make the cut, I'm guessing. This book is absolutely exactly what the title claims - good, simple food.

I love this cookbok!
I have Jessica's first cookbook, Deceptively Delicious, and while I thought the idea was good most of the recipes did not appeal to me. Also I have twins and I had just moved them to solid foods and I was honestly just over pureeing vegetables. So, I was a little disappointed to see that this was another pureeing cookbook, which as other reviews have said, was not mentioned on Oprah. However, it had been awhile since I had pureed anything so I thought I might as well give it a try and make some of the recipes. The first things I made were the Chicken Parmesan and the Chocolate Cherry Brownies. They were amazing! My husband raved about the chicken and while I was sure the brownies would taste awful ( they had spinach in them), they were so good and really moist. I have since made probably about 1/3 of the other recipes and every single one has been delicious. I am so excited to make the rest of them! Some of the recipes are quick and some are not, but I save the more time consuming ones for the weekend when I do not have to work. The pureeing is kind of a pain, it takes up a few hours, but I made up enough in a few hours to have lasted me about a month ( not making her recipes every day though). I even made the chicken pizza without using any puree and it was good. I would highly recommend this cookbook

A must for Mums
This picks up where the first book (Deceptively Delicious) left off and is a must if, like me, you've embraced the ideas Mrs Seinfeld presents. Possibly better suited to older children than the first, I think the recipes are delicious and practical. You will need American style dry measuring cups (easily available on Amazon), and plenty of freezer space for your purees (do this in bulk and life becomes very very easy).

All hype, no taste
I recently bought both deceptively delicious and double delicious with high hopes. I began by reading thoroughly through the foreword and began preparing all the purees. And then the recipes...so far, Chicken Satay, Apple Crisp, Banana Chocolate Tarts, Lo Mein and Lemon Chicken. All of them were awful. I am a baker and the ability to follow a recipe isn't much of a challenge so human error is not a factor. Her overuse of margarine is disturbing as I would wager that putting butter (a naturally made ingredient) as opposed to margarine (a man made chemical concoction) would be a better choice to put into our children...or how about neither! All the food lacked flavour, the apple crisp was dry, the 'pastry' on the banana tarts was actually terrible and the Lemon Chicken tasted nothing like lemon! And the sauce didn't thicken so her measurements are off on a lot of her recipes. I will not be wasting my money in trying any further recipes...what a waste of money and now I have a freezer full of purees!

Not bad.
This book was ok. Definitely great for picky eaters but I have found better recipes elsewhere.
