It is a valve
This was a valve (actally the name is longer) that our plumber suggested. It was considerably cheaper than he could get so we bought it and he installed it. Too new to know if there will be any problems long term but it looks good. Service was good for shipping.

Defective!!!
The valve was defective. I returned it for a full refund!

I was wrong
I wrote an earlier bad review saying it leaked within an hour but after shutting off the pressure and repressurizing it started working perfectly. I'll take down the other review or modify it if I can find it. Sorry Seller.

Fast Shipping.
Fast shipping aside, these things fail about once a year. I have it in an application on underground sprinklers on our lawn. The water is turned off over the winter, but the system is subjected to temperatures below freezing. Every spring when I turn the water on I find the innards of this unit have broken. I haven't been able to find a repair kit, so every year I buy a new unit and replace the inside parts.

After getting this professionally installed it only lasted about a month and randomly started to leak I’ve tried cleaning out the plastic mating surface multiple times but it keeps on leaking after a bit horrible product would not recommend

Always leakedThe valve leaked from the point of installation, ended up returning the product.
