The Rainpoint smart WiFi water flow meter is a very innovative product. The hardware is ruggedly built for heavy outdoor usage. The flow meter housing is attached to a hose on one end and to a spray nozzle on the other end via quick connectors. As a result it can be detached very easily without causing any damage to the hose and nozzle garden hose threads. As an additional bonus, the flow sensor (containing the electronics and batteries) can be slid in and out of the main housing and kept indoors when not in use.The pairing of the unit and setup in the Homgar app is very easy. During a spray event both the LCD display on the sensor and the app show the actual flow rate as gal/min. At the end of each spray event they show the amount of water used in gallons. The app conveniently provides a chart of water usage vs. time. The app also has features like water usage warning (for accidental excessive water usage) and water usage correction (for calibration if needed). The built in Hall sensor seems to be very accurate right out of the box (less than about 1 %). This is an excellent product for water-wise maintenance of your garden and I would highly recommend it.

The Rainpoint Flow Meter works well for monitoring irrigation flow, especially if you already have a Rainpoint irrigation timer with a wireless hub. However, it’s too long for my setup, as I have a small space and need something more compact for my outdoor barn faucet. The unit itself is sturdy, but the plastic construction feels fragile—I've broken similar devices before. That being said Rainpoint customer service sent a new, replacement free of charge and it's been holding its own since.It’s a bit pricey, especially since you still need additional components like the $50 hub for full functionality. I found the setup to be overly complicated, and simpler models without Wi-Fi are much more cost-effective. Overall, good performance and idea for us since we already owned a hub and other watering systems by Rainpoint. If you really want a handy one- get their WiFi enabled turn on turn off timer valve.

This is a free vine review product, they don't bother to send the 'hub' with it. So I can't test that function. I would say this is way expensive to measure flow even with the 'hub' which is another $50 at least. You are only reading flow and not given any ability to control water on/off, you still need to buy more stuff! I also think this is overly complicated as I can just read the LCD on the device and there are the old style with no WiFi ones which are just fine for 1/3 the cost. This is all plastic so if you tug on that hose you'll snap this off at the faucet, I've done that to several similar units already. Nobody makes things out of metal now days! Skip this one and just get the plain simply read out only with no dam phone app needed or complicated pairing and setup gyrations....simplify your life!

Giving 2 stars because it does read water flow, but got for convenience to check via app phone ect which does not work for me no matter what I try. This is a nice unit that comes with quick connects and manual that comes with video instructions. Unfortunately even with app/gateway and video tutorial this will not connect to app at all.

This works well but this flow meter is way too long to really be useful. I have a crawl space which is where all my water lines are ran so that means the outdoor faucet can only be as high as the main floor, which is about 20" off the ground. I only need to monitor my irrigation timer, which is used for watering my garden and flower beds but with my 4-way splitter and irrigation timer, this flow meter is way too long to use in my setup. However, it does work well and you can monitor it with the Rainpoint app if you already have one of their irrigation timers (with wireless hub). I just wish it wasn't so long.For those that had trouble getting the battery removed like I did, there are 4 total screws that you need to remove. You need to pull out the main unit with display (clear plastic) from the white holder and then you can access the other two screws.

It twists on with ease but have not used it yet because I have no AAA batteries right now. As far as water flowing through it without turning it own, it was working.
