Cake: A Cookbook Hardcover – April 10, 2018

I love the illustrations both realistic and decorative at the same time! I’m sure the recipes are excellent too, though I haven’t tried any yet.

I love the Maira Kalman art and the great narrative

Received the book yesterday. Baked a cake today. On a week night. After work. Because. . . . "Baking a cake is immensely satisfying. It's a simple pleasure that should not be taken lightly."I, like the authors, am very fond of cake. Maira Kalman's illustrations charm me every time - as do her words; the memories she shares. Thinking I had nothing to eat with my tea in the morning, and having a little time; I decided to try one of Barbara Scott-Goodman's recipes. The "Coffee Cake with Streusel" was easy and is delicious (I used brown sugar in the streusel).

I love how it captures the love of a cake in a beautiful moment. The book is a pleasure to hold and revel in the pleasure of feeling the pictures and recipes. It is fun to look thru...a lovely way to gift someone dear. And then delish to consume the end.

I love Maira Kalman and reading recipes - this was a great choice for personal indulgence. Great art and stories! I live alone, so I don't bake cakes much, but I have several of these recipes tagged for post pandemic meals with family and friends. Meanwhile I am enjoying the book.

The stories and illustrations are lovely as one would expect from Ms. Kalman. I love her use of color. The icing on the cake is that the recipes are good ones, making this a terrific gift for anyone who loves making cakes.
