This is a decent set of step drills. Split points have a good grind on them - get you through a piece of 18 gauge sheet in jiffy. Leave a fairly smooth hole in softwood. They seem to cut more aggressively than the run of the mill titanium ones. I like aggressive in a step drill. They come in a nice plastic case that is hinged.I wouldn't put much stock in them being Cobalt - It only mentions, "Cobalt," in one photo. No mention on product page, in banner, or on the case. I can't believe a company that spends the money on cobalt isn't going to plaster that all over the place. If I knew they were intentionally lying I'd give them a negative review - but I don't. Used one of these to step drill out a 5/8" hole in a chain link fence post. Worked great! I like the variety of different step angles.

I have a number of step bits, but these are by far the nicest. This is a great design with an eye toward efficient material removal. They are extremely sharp. They make very clean holes and bore through a variety of materials with ease. A range of sizes (⅛" to 1⅜") with some overlap across bits ensures coverage for most applications with fewer bit changes.The blow-molded case is better than most in that it has real hinges, not just creased/folded plastic (which usually breaks over time).A nice addition to my workshop.

This four spiral flute drill bit set comes with 5 different pieces and can be used for metal/steel/aluminum/wood/plastic. The darker nitride finish looks sleek and the cobalt core will mean it'll last a really long time. I like the drill bit box it comes in and it's organized from smallest to largest. The cuts are super clean and it's easy to split wood trunks. The holes they drill are smooth and clean. Overall a solid set.

For really tough jobs spiral flute step bits are a great resource. These are incredibly hard. They say they are Tempering Core HSS Cobalt. I'm not sure about the Tempering Core part but HSS Cobalt is high end stuff combining High Speed Steel with cobalt to provide exceptional hardness with heat dissipation.From hardwoods to steel, these bits will drill and smooth hole. Five sizes at a good price make this a great addition to my shop.

I cut 1 hole on carbon steel and it’s dull. I would not recommend this for anything but aluminum and wood.
