Great camera!
The media could not be loaded. The picture quality is great! And(!!!) it records in 25fps while majority of cctv cameras record in 15 fps.25fps make the footage much smoother !The app is great too! If you are going through a recorded footage, it automatically plays all clips one by one! You dont need to sellect them manually one by one! Also you can adjust colours and other stuff in the app.

camera didnt work at first but was soon resolved.
for some reason the camera and another rlc-520A (in black) that i purchased didnt work on my system. My white versions were detecting but the black wasnt. rather than send them back as faulty, i contacted reolink through their main website and used chat to speak to them. I was expecting to have to send both cameras back after reading other folks reviews, but i have to say the customer service was great and solved the issue straight away. The firmware on my system was out of date and once the up to date firmware was manually downloaded and installed, the cameras were detected straight away. The nvr system has also gained lots of new features that i didnt previously have. I never knew i needed to manually update the firmware on the system, as i thought it did that automatically with the updates.

Camera failed after 4 months of use
Camera worked fine for some time, then all of a sudden it started dropping connection through the night. Then would come back online in the morning. Other people have also reported this issue, currently waiting on Reolink RMA process. 26/2/25 camera replaced under warranty by sandy who delt with the process to an acceptable level.

Good value for money but some small changes would make a huge difference
The manufacturing costs for this product have clearly been allocated to the build quality of the camera itself, and the picture quality that it delivers. I can't fault these, and I like the fact that it will work with an app without any cloud accounts needing to be created, and can function completely locally if required to. The options for black turret cameras are also quite limited so it's good to see the colour options offered here. The casing of the camera and the gimbal housing is metal which was unexpected but welcome, the base of the mount is plastic which is necessary for the way the camera twist-locks into place, and the mounting plate that goes onto the surface the camera is being installed on is also a high quality metal part. The SD card slot door can be completely removed from the device, and the tiny screws that secure it are not captive, and no spare screws are provided with the camera. If these screw were captive and the card door was tethered to the camera body in some way this would be a huge improvement especially when you consider that this area is likely to be accessed while the camera is installed in position, probably outdoors. A quick fix would be to put some additional screws in the box.The resistance built into the camera body to panning the gimbal and rotating the camera inside the housing seems weak - it feels too easy to move the camera when it's installed. Time will tell whether this is a problem - if the camera moves around by itself due to vibrations or wind then I will try some dots of silicone or similar to lock it in place. Increasing the resistance in this area would be good, or providing a way to use a security screw to lock everything in place once the position is set. A way to lock the camera onto the base would also be welcomed, it can just be twisted off but this shouldn't be an issue if you've mounted it in a suitable location. The infrared LEDs that the camera uses for illumination in the dark chuck out quite a lot of visible red light as well, which can draw attention to the camera. More expensive cameras in my experience have IR LEDs that are almost invisible, but this is a very minor point. Finally, all the items that break out from the cable are the same length which makes it difficult to get everything through the hole in the base. Staggering the length of the cables on each part (ethernet, reset button, power input) would make installation easier. It's also not possible to get the cap for the data cable through the hole if anything else is already going through there so I had to cut it off, and the waterproofing gland for the network cable is a bit of a gimmick and low quality. It's also very long so I had issues getting it to fit into the void behind the surface I was mounting the camera to, in the end I gave up on the gland as it's in a dry location and doesn't need it.For ยฃ70 you're getting what you are paying for and I am happy with the product so far, but a few changes would improve the installation experience.

Fantastic device but latest firmware updates essential.
I've had a RLC-820a for almost a year now and until recently, have been deling with various annoying false AI detections (despite constant finetuning of settings). That being said, it now seems the latest firmware updates have finally fixed most of the silly false detections (more granular settings on the AI detection no doublt playing a part). As long as you're prepared to spend a bit of time (couple of hours) over the first week or so fine tuning the settings (in normal and IR mode), I feel you can get pretty decent results finally. Now happy enough with it that I've just bought another ๐One big area in need of improvement (Reolink if your reading!) is the process for upgrading the firmware if you are using the NVR. Even though connected to the Internet, update buttons for both NVR and cameras always just say "on latest version" when I can see updates on your website. For me this means identifying the precise model and version, downloading driver to USB stick, climbing under my stairs with a monitor and updating directly on the device. Oh yeah, and forget to unzip the .PAK files for another trip to your PC and back again! Unable to access the camera web UI's as they seem to hide behind the NVR's IP address. Long story not so short, the update buttons just working would be sooooo much easier ๐

Product and aftercare service
I bought 2 cameras, unfortunately 1 became faulty. The cameras are good quality and give good vision. The customer after service were so helpful to rule out connection issues etc with faulty one, then replaced with a new camera when those checks were unresolved. Their team was in contact daily for progress to resolve problem.
