Little boy loves Mog!
Mog books never still to delight my little boy. He's at a stage now where he can read some of it himself, and he lives these books for his bedtime stories.Mog never fails, brilliant series!

Not the average Mog book, but great for learning to read
I agree with a previous reviewer: I think this book is aimed at encouraging children to start reading for themselves. It deliberately restricts the word count and has lots of repetition. Yes, the storyline is a bit weird and trippy, a bit different from most of the other Mog books, and at first I thought it was a pretty bizarre book myself. But my daughter (coming up to 4) loves it. In fact, I only realised it must be meant to encourage children to read when my daughter took it into her own hands and started pointing at the words and half-reading, half-remembering them (easy for kids to do after a few readings, because of all the repetition). So now I'm a huge fan. I'm impressed with a book that can get a child trying to read by herself even when her mum doesn't realise that's what it's for!

Great addition to the Mog series
I bought this as a present for my children as they love the Mog series, and I thought it would help with my daughter's fear of the dark. I was right. They absolutely love the story, and we read it together on a regular basis. My daughter is still a little afraid of the dark, but reading this book has helped her to realise that she doesn't really having anything to be afraid of.

We love Mog!
This is a slightly weird story, but my three year old grandson loves it, and it helped us to talk about bad dreams. I have already read it to him many times, and I think there will be many more readings and discussions! As always with the Mog books, great pictures and stimulating text.

A bit more off-the-wall than other Mog books
This is another one of Judith Kerr's 'Mog' books. Almost all her stories feature someone having a mad dream (sometimes Mog, sometimes her people) but a large part of this book is Mog having a really quite surreal, extended dream about things which might go on in the dark.I'd definitely recommend it to children who are five plus and have a rich imagination. But some young readers might find some of Mog's dream a bit scary. There are giant garden birds with teeth at one point and our five-year old daughter was definitely uneasy about them. But it compares very well against some of the sanitised children's books of today and if you want to fire your child's imagination, this book will certainly help.

Great book for toddlers
My 3 year old loves Mog in the dark. I can imagine she will continue to enjoy this book for the next few years. We first borrowed this book from the library, she enjoyed it soo much I decided to buy one for her.Mog is in the dark, dreaming of a mouse, dogs and big birds with teeth! poor Mog, all she wants is her house, her basket, her people and her supper.

My least favourite of the Mogs
My daughter loves the Mog books, and I love reading them to/with her, but this one's a bit too wordy and repetitive. I find myself editing it down as I read it aloud!

Great for beginner readers!
This story uses a limited vocabulary of only 60 words which makes it perfect for young readers. My son loves Mog books and the fact that he can read this to himself gives him lots of confidence!

Piaciuto molto
Regalato al mio nipotino che già amava il personaggio (e che ovviamente conosce l'inglese)

Mog does it again
I bought this book for my granddaughter and she loves it. She began with Mog the Cat, a book I bought for her mom when she was a child, and my granddaughter began her love of Mog with that one. Wish I could get another copy of Mog the Cat because the one they have now, is almost too worn to read anymore. Amazon is very good about keeping track of all the books they love to read. Good work Amazon.

Too scary for a toddler
This is the only Mog book I really don't care for. It's kind of scary, as the story goes through the things Mog imagines are lurking in the dark. Neither my toddler nor I like it. We have the whole Mog series, and love all the other books.

Mog has a creative imagination!
This is different from most of the other Mog stories. This is told mostly from Mog's point of view, almost a "first person" account. Sitting in the dark, in her garden, we get a look into Mog's imagination as to what lurks in the garden. She has a rather creative imagination, as you will see. In the end, she winds up where she desires: Happily eating her supper. Mog certainly is a pretty cat.

Will give a small child nightmares
The content and images are very frightening for young children. Large birds with huge beaks chasing and pecking the cat-threatening to eat him.
