This gate is perfect for narrow openings. You can install it so that it opens in or out or put the stopper in to prevent it from swinging any one way. Note that it won’t lock shut from a deft swing like some might do, you do have to purposefully close the gate by lifting it into the catch. But it is a fairly easy one-handed operation to open / close it. It also fits quite comfortably below a (my) door handle so quite handy. The main watch-it I’d say is that the gate swings very freely so I’ve stuck some foam padding at the bottom to buffer any slams against the wall.Originally I was looking for a pressure fit gate but the basic frames that usually house the gate doors just tend to take up up too much space, and there’s always the annoying trip bar st the base. If you don’t mind screwing into the wall / door frame then this gate is much better (I can’t compare against other fixed gates, though most were too wide for my 69cm wide door frame). And dead simple to remove the gate altogether just leaving the wall fixings. Now it’s up, I find it quite discrete, if left open as the gate is not at all thick or bulky as there is no handle mounted onto the swing part of the gate. The release mechanism is all part of the wall mount.As others have commented the 8 wood screws that come with the gate are really short so do replace them with bigger ones to give a more robust feel. I didn’t even bother with the short ones provided. With longer screws (I used 4mm x 35mm wood screws) the gate feels really solid though I won’t be letting my child stand on the gate. (Rawl plugs would also need to be sourced if mounting into anything other than wood)The installation instructions (photo included) aren’t toooo bad though I appreciate others’ comments that they weren’t especially easy to follow. I’ve attached a few notes over the instructions in one of the review pictures that might help. One thing to note is that tiny plastic piece included is a stopper to prevent the gate opening in one direction. I put mine in so that he gate can only swing away from the door (can see this in picture of locking clasp on right hand side). Just that it is not immediately obvious in the instructions what the bit is for.

This is quite easy to install, but I would recommend installing the hinged side first. After the wall pieces are installed, set the gate to the appropriate width, hang it on the hinge, level it, and note on the other side of the wall where the security plates should be installed. If you try to install both sides simultaneously, you will run into level issues and it may look as though the unit is askew once installed.I learned this after installing one unit. Adjusted my installation method and the second unit is perfect. Adjusted the first unit as well.In operation, it is easy to secure and use. Great product and very sturdy.

If you want a simple but effective stair gate, this is the one (in my opinion). And its very reasonably priced too!You do have to screw it in to the wall but the manufacturers have provided a very useful drilling paper template in the kit so that even the complete DIY novice cannot get the alignment wrong. Added bonus is that once it is installed, it is not going to fall over nor is there a lower frame bar to trip over when the gate is open (unlike many of the "pressure fixed" gates in a frame).Adjustable bolts allow you to set the overall width of the gate to suit your needs and also to tweak the position at the hinge and opening face.Locking system is very simple but seems very effective and has withstood several attempted escapes by our little one. It even has a small fitting to prevent the gate opening the wrong way (i.e. over the downward stairs) which is an essential feature. The only thin which I would have wanted added to the kit is a magnet to hold the gate open when not needed (I fitted a magnet on each of ours and that has done the job).Would definitely recommend.

Needed a much larger than normal Baby Gate as the entrance to our stair case is much wider than your average. This seemed to be a good option.It was straight forward to put together, you asses the width and fix the two panels together. Then insert each of the bolts into the correct place on the frame and tighten - these are your locating bolts that fix to the brackets on the wall.I then offered up the pivot side first, side B I think - approx where needed to get a rough idea - using the template which was great, I stuck this to the wall with some masking tape making sure it was aligned and then drilled my first 4 holes. I fixed the brackets on the wall and then stuck the gate onto the brackets so it could swing both ways.I line up on the other wall the other brackets, I used the top bracket to see where I would need to drill and then used this mark to set up the template for this side, taped and drilled and fixed to the wall.Some adjustment will be needed when locating the fixed brackets, but this is simply to do by hand screwing the bolt in or out slightly, and then use the spanner included to secure the locking nut.Job took about 20-30 mins by myself to complete.The little man loves it, its now something for him to help pull himself up with - he is only 9 months, but is crawling around and has attempted to climb the stairs on several occassions, so this was much needed.To use I did fine you needed two hands, one to release the catch and the other to swing the frame - But I think this is due to the frame being almost fully extended, my parents brought 2 for their house and as they only have it slightly extended it was easier to open and close with one hand.However, after a few days use, the one handed operation does seem to work for me and my wife. IT works well, it strongly made, I done see it coming down anytime soon - of course use the best plugs and screws for the wall your fixing too, I used the Reds with Different Screws than provided but I know it will hold.All in all, very please, we will actually be buying another 2 for other areas in the house - wanted to try one first to see how it goes.

Ho acquistato questo cancellino perché il mio ingresso è più largo di quelli standard e questo era uno dei pochi cancellino lunghi a sufficienza con apertura totale e quindi senza togliere spazio quando si salgono le scale.Esteticamente molto bello, essenziale ma ben fatto. Sicuramente robusto e molto comodo perché si adatta a scale sia molto lunghe che corte.Nella confezione è incluso anche una descrizione per il montaggio e una dima per prendere le giuste misure perni fori nei muri. Molto consigliato.

Satisfaite de cette barrière! Facile à installer et on sent qu'elle est solide. Nous avons découvert la marque babydan en achetant une autre barrière pour le poêle et nous avons été satisfait par la solidité et la possibilité de moduler plusieurs morceaux de barrière pour créer sa propre barrière "sur mesure". Super bien pensé!
