Assuming it is accurate, digital temperature readout is handy. Unfortunately, the temperature setting goes away when the iron is unplugged, and must be reset each time. The wide dimpled sole distributes melted wax nicely and accomodates wide skis. What's not good is lack of a three prong cord. In use the cord easily falls out of the recepticle, requiring temperature reset. Be aware this appliance is NOT grounded, and consequently is not UL or CSA listed. Do not use in damp conditions.

I use this to wax nordic race skis. It has a very heavy base and keeps a very constant temperature. I've only ever used the cheapo ($30) waxing iron or re purposed clothes irons, and this is night and day better! I haven't used many of the other similarly priced digital irons, but this seems to be a little heavier (a good thing?) if a little less ergonomic. The one I received looked like it might have been used or dropped, but it seems to work fine, and it's a waxing iron, so I don't really care about the appearance, but that's why I docked it a star.

Found this supposedly accurate control to not even be close.Checked with a contact type digital temperature meter.Planned to use this to shrink aircraft fabric and accuracy is paramount.My correction table is.177 to 180C = 325F. (Max output)121 C. Should be 250F but requires a setting of 135C107 C. Should be 225F but requires a setting of 120CThe only truly accurate setting is when it says OFFIf you need accuracy then this is not the iron you want.

This is must have item, if you need to apply wax on skis. Tons of power. When I received it, 5 cents plastic light cover was missing, and have contacted Wintersteiger customer service. They were totally useless, but seller just send me a good iron.

It’s being used at Aspen Mtn Ski School wax room every day by a lot of different people, everyone likes it a lot, dimpled base makes for easy sliding, no suction, nice digital temperature control, rubber mat to rest it on...Nice !!
