Great gateway appliance board!
If you are building a firewall/router, this one is definitely worth your while. I'm running OPNsense on this with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700T CPU @ 2.90GHz in a Streacom Fanless Case with a PCIe ribbon for a PCIe modem initially (I now run dual external modems in bridge mode) and this thing runs very efficiently. With this particular processor, earlier versions of the bios would not work but recent stock has a new enough bios from the factory. One of these I bought almost a year ago required that I put an earlier i3 that I have on hand for this purpose which is compatible with the first bios version to flash it first. One board I bought this year did not need to be flashed to run the i7-7700T. As far as my current installation, I'm running dual wans and dual wlans. It's always good to have many ethernet ports, better still is that they are Intel ports which are known not to choke under constant heavy network loads.

Great board & Excellent Tech Support (if you need it...)
Great board for pfSense firewall. Designed for a rack mount style case that has room for the PCIe x4 extension slot on the side. Unfortunately, I ordered a Mini ITX case that had no room on the right side and had to order a different case. So just be aware that the case you select must have clearance for a riser cable that fits into the PCIe slot.I have this paired with a Pentium G4650 CPU, 4GB RAM with an SSD and a 4 port Ethernet card (HP NC364T) running pfSense 2.4.2 on the bench right now and no problems at all.Follow-up (19 Mar 2018) to advise others that you mayl need the firmware update from Jetway for the PCIe slot to run all 4 lanes. The PCIe slot (physically a x4 connector) is only configured as a x1 slot from the factory, . The update allows the use of PCIe cards that need 4 lanes. Jetway's tech support is top-notch and very responsive but you have to ask them for the update and they will quickly send you a link to download the patch - I couldn't find it on their site. To install the patch, just make a bootable DOS USB (use Rufus) and copy the files to the USB. Select the USB as the boot device in the BIOS, boot the system and then run the batch file, done.Great board as I've said and excellent tech support.Update - 8 Aug 2020This board has been running 24/7 as a pfSense firewall and has not given me one bit of trouble. Solid, well made and trouble free.Update - 29 Oct 2021Just looking at present pricing since 2018 and decided to give a quick update. This motherboard will be supported through to 2030 according to their website. Amazing board. It is or was sensitive to PNY's SSD controller but I think they fixed that in a firmware update.Still running great since 2018 with 24/7 operation an pfSense 2.5.

would recommend. Not for the beginner
This is an a heavy hitter when it comes to what you can uses this for , Pfsense, Opensense, VMware, Windows , Linux the ability to use the 1155 socket cpu gives you a broad choice for cpus comes with bios for sixth gen cpu but a simple bios flash allows seventh gen . I’m using 7th gen i5 running pfsense 16Gb ram Samsung evo pro 240Gb and is working flawlessly .... running multiple networks with pfblocker ng and running snort ids/ips this doesn’t even break a sweat with resources available.... would recommend. Not for the beginner .

Amazing board! Keep up the good work Jetway!
Jetway was great about answering some questions I had before purchase.I have been running this motherboard since October 2017 with pfSense, on a 1gbps fiber symmetrical connection. I had to first drop a 6th gen cpu in the mobo, upgrade the bios, and then place the 7th gen cpu in the system. As some other said, maybe not the best for a first build - but then again you would not really be looking at this type of motherboard for your first computer ...My specs:i3 7100T8GB of DDR3 1866mhz120GB Crucial SSDNoctua Cooler (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009VCAJ7W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)I love that the board has support through 2022 - expecting to get updates from Jetway for CVE's that come out is well worth the price premium this board carries. It's been rock solid running 24/7!

Five Stars
Been running for several years with absolutely no issues - rock solid.Great board - runs ESX 6.7 just fine with correct NIC drivers added (ESXi Customizer). Great for open source firewalls, VYOS, ESXi server, etc. I use it as Palo Alto Networks virtualized firewall on ESXi for home 1Gb/1Gb circuit - plus various other VM's. Probably not a board for a first build due to the power supply requirements and circuit board HDMI interface. But if you know your way around a motherboard you'll be fine.Specs:Intel Core i7 670016 GB Crucial RAM512 GB Samsung SSDNoctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler <<<< Highly recommend - super quietMITXPC MX500 Case

Runs like a monster
PFsense build with i5. Runs like a monster! The marking for the HDMI port were nowhere to be seen, but I guessed right the first time. Only complaint.

Running great ... after 6 years
I bought this board with a pre-built i3-6100 1U network server for pfSense and it has been running great. Board has good support, last BIOS update being from 2020. Board also has expansion options to add daughter boards for even more RJ45 jacks, although I don't know if those accessories are still purchasable.Either way, board is pretty solid with pfSense, running 24x7 and no lock ups.Only feature missing is IPMI from remote management, but otherwise great for a home firewall or NAS setup.
