Heli-Coil R532614L M14 Sav-A-Thread In/Long

I have used this part to repair 3 of the 8 spark plugs in my Ford F150 (4.6l V8). So far it has worked flawlessly and seems to be a permanent solution.

I have had no problem with. They must be installed properly. I have used them before on other heads and they do a good job.

These saved my engine! But before installing, make sure you have a way to blow the metal shards out of the cylinders, you dont wanna drive with metal loose in your engine. I recommend watching scotty kilmers video on these before you start.

If you haven’t tapped a thread in a piece of metal before then know that this method for spark plugs is relatively easy as the smaller thread drags the large thread behind it. Chances of messing this up are greatly reduced if you have some spark plug threads left. Having said that this is not for the faint hearted. Do use grease, Do back the tap out several times during the procedure, Do preferably remove the head OR make sure to get all of the remnants out of the cylinder. Note that these helicoils have no shoulder - they could go through to the cylinder if not done correctly. 3 issues during usage … 1) None of the threads provided were long enough for the spark plugs I was using - I used the longest one. These particular helicoils can NOT be stacked - the threads will bind and strip your newly created threads and/or your spark plug. 2) Use some from of fixer (high temp threadlocker) - get the helicoil just flush with the hole with a small dab of threadlocker in place (the plug must be able to efficiently conduct electricity to the head). Let set for minimum time and then DO hit the top of the helicoil with the punch to expand the top ridges. 3) Be aware than any grease in your cylinder will take some time to burn off and firing may not be great initially after installing. There is a more expensive brand that allegedly works better and does have a shoulder on the inserts. Note that most of these kits are not cross-compatible with other inserts - you need to start as you mean to go on. Also watch some YT videos on these kits will help you.

I bought an old F150 and when replacing the plugs & wires, one of the plug holes had been heli-coiled. The helicoil came out of the head stuck to the plug and trying to separate the two was futile. I used this new Save-A-Thread by screwing it onto the new plug and then screwing them both into the head. Worked great. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and the seller.

I was skeptical getting this coz I’ve never used anything like this or gone through a situation like that. But after a spark plug wouldn’t go in one of the gaskets, this little beast made it happen. Haven’t taken out the spark plug to see if I can put it back it, but it’s kicking so I’ll leave it till I need another one. Very inexpensive than replacing the whole gasket. 2003 Toyota Tacoma 4wd v6.

It works. Use lots of greese on the tap to hold the metal chips so they don't fall in the cylinder. Its possible to screw the insert in too far as there is nothing to stop it. If i had it to do over I'd probably get a more expensive kit. Something with a flange at the top of the insert. But it got the truck running so I could trade it in.
