Really good!
I love these “cookies”, they are tasty, (although bit powdery for me). You don’t feel thirst and it fills you up.They are compact, but light and exellent for a hike. I have bought a ton. Just ceck the calorie content, for there are 2400 and 3600.

Keeps me energized
Taste is ok n testers is my bad. Reminds me of pecan sandies cookie without the pecan n more like a hint of lemon. Doesn’t t dry my mouth out but you can feel n taste the fat content. A portion Satisfies my hunger for an afternoon. Definitely would buy again for emergencies or when I need quick satisfying energy meal. Probably keep some in my vehicles emergency kits

Best of the emergency rations!...
...both in quality and size. First, I also tried Mayday (very dry, will make you thirsty) and Datrex (very greasy, leaves a waxy film in your mouth). This is more like lemon cookies and actually has much better nutritional value. Mayday is too hard and really IS like a "brick-o-food" and Datrex is a little too crumbly (did I mention greasy?). Mayday and Mainstay both come in block form but Mainstay WILL break on the lines with just your fingers and if you are concerned with exposing the whole thing just to eat one portion, buy the smaller packs. The Datrex servings do come in individually packaged but they HAVE to do it that way because it's so crumbly it would just be a feedbag once you opened it, also, the little wrapped (not "packaged") servings often open on their own but even if they didn't, the stuff is so crumbly it would just fall apart (you DO remember I said it's "greasy", right?).

palatable and extremely stable.
its certainly not as tasty as a regular candy bar, but it's palatable and much better than you would probably expect , its not thirst provoking which is perfect for a survival situation. its dry, dense, and a bit crumbly but for a long term shelf stable food that can handle heat and cold im guessing theres not a better option available that's ready to eat without preparation.

Convenient and Enjoyable!
I was skeptical about this type of survival food product and have viewed this advertisement many many times online. So it made me curious "why not, I should take a chance and order 1 pack just to try it to understand what the repetitious hype is all about. Well,,,I can truly honestly confirm from myself that it does taste great as shortbread cookies do and it has just a very slight hint of lemon flavoring not overpowering at all which makes for a more enjoyable snacking experience. When opening the packaging each cookie holds solid and does not disintegrate into crumbs. No it does not taste like cardboard or sawdust as I have read multiple reviews elsewhere. Although, it is a survival food with calorie content to sustain short term and obviously only in an emergency situation. The packaging for it is very small and allows convenient storage even in multiple quantities as I have now ordered and is stored. This is just my own tested opinion and do not want anyone to base their purchasing decision only by my review. Just keep in mind as with any edible "i think it looks and tastes yuck", how would you really know if you haven't tried it yourself. Oh, and no it really "does not make you thirsty afterward".

For emergency use only - not exactly delicious
Got these to keep in the car in case we got stranded somewhere for a day or two in a remote area. It gets hot enough in the car trunk that MREs would go bad after a month or two, so these looked like a good choice. We put two in the emergency kit and opened the last one to taste test. (I have a general rule of not relying on any emergency gear that I haven't tested first to make sure it does the job.) Did not taste very good, I'd certainly prefer fresh food, freeze dried, or even MREs over these, but if you need something that can be stored in very high temperatures and remain edible for years then they'll do the job.

Tastes like a biscuit seasoned with a latex glove
Finally got around to eating some of this since it’s expired. I’m not sure if it was the packaging, but there was a very noticeable latex/plastic flavor. Tastes like a biscuit seasoned with zest from a latex glove. That said, I’m sure it would do as a source of calories in a pinch.

Liked the reviews
Ya, I did a bit of looking for some bars that would be what I needed. This company "Mainstay" had some of the best reviews on flavor and texture, so I went with these. I did not like that the bar is in one chunk that can be broken into 6 peaces easily, I would have liked to see it in 6 peaces individually wrapped and then packed in a bar. But this is good for a larger group because you will use all the six portions anyway. all in all its a good product and I bought more bars.
