Perfect for my senior father. Peace of mind is priceless.
Preface:Ok, where to begin? First off, let me say that I paid FULL price for this, I didn't get a discount to review this. That being said, I couldn't be happier with this phone. I bought this for my father who is 75+ and there is no way in the world I could teach him to use a smart phone. He's used to the old flip phone he's had for the last 5 years. Unfortunately , the old kind of flip phones are based on a 2G network which is becoming obsolete. He has tmobile which "still has" a 2G network but its super crappy, and his service would go in and out. Which would be fine for younger people but I call him several times a day to make sure he's ok.So because service was going in and out, and even when I was at his house I would call him, and I would be right next to him and the old samsung flip phone wouldn't even ring. Now about the Jethro 3G phone:I am not going to lie, I was a bit hesitant to buy this phone after hours and hours of researching because I've never heard of this brand and I thought, I might as well try it out because if it doesn't work, I can just return it.Got the phone and I must say that I was PLEASANTLY surprised. First of all, the phone itself is a nice size and it has BIG buttons, which are great for my dad cause he has pretty big fingers. The screen size was big and the text was big as well. I was able to put in his old sim card and it was ready to go.There are some features that I really like:The phone has an SOS button on the back, which you would disable if you want, ( that's what I did because he might randomly press the button and who knows who he would call, but you do have the option to program the SOS button to any number you so choose.I really like that it has a M1 and M2 button which is basically just a preset to any number you want to add on there and with one click of a button it dials that number. For example, I have my mom as M1 and myself as M2 since he calls us the most and he doesn't need to go through the entire phonebook to find our numbers. The top right button directs straight to the contacts which he was used to using the down arrow on his old phone, but thankfully the down arrow on this phone brings you to a speed dial list that you can add up to 9 favorite contacts. The phone is very easy to use and I was able to teach him in a few minutes. So after all was installed, I asked him to go into his basement, where with his old phone, it would not even ring whatsoever, and guess what? The phone rang and I was able to hear him clearly. Thank GOD!It is also nice because it has bluetooth, a radio, and even a camera.Maybe to others that would not be a big deal, but to me it is, because it is super important that I can check up on him.The only thing I would change about the phone is that right under the down arrow, when he is going through his contacts if he accidentally clicks the button right under the down arrow, it would go into editing the certain contact he was on. So i told him that if that ever happens, he could just press the red end call button and it would get him back to the previous screen.Another thing is the voicemail button, this may just be with tmobile but when there is a voicemail there is no way to directly connect to listen to it, you actually have to call your voicemail, which is ok because I added that to nr. 9 on the speed dial list. No big dealAlso, the volume buttons are on the side of the phone which is ok, but I worry that he will turn down the volume all the way and the phone won't ring so he can hear it, but when you click on the side to bring the volume all the way down, the key sounds still sound the same even though the ring volume is all the way down, so i Told him he needs to check to make sure the volume is on high from time to time. The phone comes with a cradle charger which is great, except for the fact that cable is only 3 feet long. So I contacted Jethro and asked if there is any way that the phone can come with a longer cord, and they were super nice and sent me a 6 foot cord for free.I must say that they have the best customer service by far, they sent me a longer cable as well as an extra cradle because the one that came with the phone did not connect all the time , and an extra battery.I am over joyed that this phone works and that customer service is so great, I actually emailed them a bunch of questions about the phone and they were more than happy to answer. I wish that every company had such amazing customer service, they treated me which such respect, like I would have bought a luxury car from them and not a $65 phone.on a side note: I kept seeing in the top left part of the screen that it was switching from 2 to 3 from time to time and I asked them and they said that it switches between a 2g and 3g signal depending on which one is better, so that's great to know that It truly does pick up the 3g network and the signal is great.I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone who has a senior/child in their life that they want to keep tabs on to make sure that they are ok.After searching for hours and hours for a phone that had all the features that I know my father would want and for it not to be such a big change from his previous phone for him to get confused, we found a winner. And his favorite part? It has a hook where you can attach a lanyard because he uses the phone around his neck. For seniors, this phone is great and you can definitely see that whoever made this phone put a lot of thought in it.1. It has a spot for a lanyard that you can connect2. It has an SOS button on the back of the phone so if God forbid they fall they can call for help with the push of a button3. It has 2 memory buttons that can call 2 separate numbers with just the push of a button4. It has the radio and a flashlight5. The buttons are big and the volume is loud so it can be easily heard and clicked.6. Great price , there are similar phones out there that are not 3G and are pricier than this one.7. AMAZING customer service.Compared to other similar phones on the market, I would rate this a 10/10 and 100+ for customer service!

Finally, a great phone for seniors
This is not only a beautiful looking phone, but with the larger buttons it is easy for a senior (I am 77 years old) to manage. With my old cell phone I was constantly hitting the wrong buttons and getting so very messed up, so I am happy with the Jethro phone, It took awhile to figure out how to hook up with the Tracfone network (I thank Jeffrey in the service department for his help!), but I finally got there, with the purchase of a "Bring Your Own SIM Kit". Plus, I have the most delightfully pleasant ringtone - Beethoven's "fur Elise" on the piano! My flip phone answers when you flip it open, so I feel like Captain Kirk (not really, but it reminds me of Star Trek) when I answer. This is just a fabulous phone. Thank you, Jethro! J. Reed

Poor voice quality and not very simple
I bought this phone for a senior who needs a very simple phone. The features I am looking for are very basic - accessing contacts, calling, loud and clear speaker; no texting, voicemail, camera, or anything else.Call qualityOn my test calls, the voice quality was noticeably poorer than on my iPhone, with background white noise and muffled voice.ConstructionThe phone is plastic with soft, velvet-like covering on the front and the back, and it is of noticeably cheap quality. The buttons are rubber and need to be pressed at the right location to respond. However, it is comfortable to hold, with a bright, large 2.4” screen (most flip phones are around 2”), which is its best quality.Ease of useThe down arrow accesses the speed dial and not the phonebook, and there is no way to reprogram the button to open the phonebook instead of speed dial. The issue with the down arrow opening speed dial instead of the phonebook is that this results in the buttons opening the phonebook (top right) and scrolling being different. Two different buttons are much harder for a senior to learn than using a single button. Forget about entering contacts. On the home screen, instead of “menu” and “phonebook” being written out, there are images, which could be hard to understand. The speed dial interface looks ugly. For example "2(Home)", with parenthesis around the contact and no spaces.Phonebook navigation is not intuitive. The search function only works when either navigating to the search bar or pressing the numberkeys twice; and once a letter is entered, it does not take you to the place in contacts that start with that letter--letting you scroll to the desired entry--but instead filters out all the contacts that do not contain the typed letters. The red and green buttons are a bit confusing for a senior. A yes/no or "call"/"hang up" buttons would have been better, like on the jitterbug.Closing the phone exits to the home screen, which is good for a senior that might get stuck in a complicated menu maze.Volume adjuster on the side does not make any noise, making it possible to accidentally mute the phone. It would have been better if pressing the buttons produces a tone of corresponding volume. There is the ability to disable the SOS button, which is good to avoid falsely dialing emergency (it needs to be held for 3 seconds to be activated). And there is the ability to set it to a custom number, just like the M1, M2.There is no external screen, and if you have the “open to answer” option selected, there is no way to tell who is calling before answering. Disabling the “open to answer” feature, makes the use of the phone harder for a senior.BatteryBattery lasts up to a week with infrequent use.Overall, this is cheaply-built phone with poor voice quality, a lack of button customization, and clunky menus and navigation. For a seasoned phone user, this would not be a big deal, but for a senior it makes the phone nearly unusable.

Not suitable for the impaired
Wanted it for a elderly blind person, but didn’t work out. It wasn’t fully featured with key pad call out buttons, had to go back to LG.An ok phone otherwise.
