Doitpower 1 x 30 Belt Sander and Disc Sanders Benchtop 17 m/s Belt Speed 1/3HP Motor

So far I have really liked it. I dropped a star because I fear for durability issues. This is a low cost sander, and it seems like a good choice in the 'low cost sander' class. I have been very happy with it.First what I really like:- Belt speed is higher than some of its less expensive contemporaries. This translates into faster material removal, but will heat faster too, but with care you can spend less time working material.- Work platforms are solid and they are sit flat (90 degrees) to the belt and disk. The belt side has an adjustment.- Most of the bits and pieces are appear to be better made and it is heavier than other sanders in its price class. The added weight helps with stability.What I don't like:- The construction is a cast low quality metal and the mounting screws for various covers thread directly into this metal. One of the cover screws below the disk stripped out during installation - not a bit deal on the disk side, but on the belt side you are constantly loosening and tightening these screws to change the belts. I worry about the longevity of the these cover screws.- The belt tensioner / locking mechanism seems to be lacking a certain solidness. It may last years, but it doesn't feel that way at the moment.Overall, I think it is very good for the money I paid for it and I would recommend it to someone who isn't going to be trying to make a living manufacturing bird houses to sell on Ebay or trying to use it to make a large number of knives. Most of the durability issues can be worked around if they go south, so you won't be out of a sander and, if you are like me, using it as really nice knife sharpener, then it will likely go a good little while without significant issue. I believe that it is a good choice for very good performance on light work, but if you are expecting professional durability and performance, better to buy something else.
