Uniquely delicious

There is nothing to dislike, it is exactly as I hoped it would be.The reason I purchased this tea is that I know these teas from beautiful Taiwan have the best taste. It may seem like a waste to mix this tea with an herbal tea of baser quality, in fact it really should not be done, but it helps make the herbal tea more palatable and I am trying to treat a medical condition that no medical doctor so far has offered any remedy for. I'm particularly fond of teas from Taiwan and can confirm this is one of the best, and at a fair price, considering the quality.

Great seller, brews easy at normal temp, taste is above average, can get more than one steep

This review is for the Xin Qing Black Oolong Tea.I liked this tea because it is not bitter or astringent. There is a definite sweetness to it, a little on the delicate side and smooth. Brewing comes out correctly using standard temperature and times. You can get more than one steep albeit the first is really really nice and the second is just really nice. Classy tea but the tin is not the best but you will drink it fast enough it may not matter? As a side note I am looking for that heavy roasted oolong tea that is almost like coffee...

Still Don’t Get the whole Tea Thing

I admit that I’m not a tea person. I felt like I must be missing out on something. I want to try to tap in on that enjoyment and understand why so much of the would enjoys tea. I presumed it was inferior tea available to me in the grocery store. I tried to research the best teas and this is one I came up with. I still don’t get the whole tea thing. With this one I have to really look for subtle flavors but my overall impression is that most teas are subtle flavored dish water. I’ve concluded that it must be all goodies served at tea time that keeps tea so universally popular.Confused

Vegetal and floral? Better price than tea of similar quality.

I’m fairly new to oolong drinking. I bought a “famous” brand that was just shake - not a full leaf in sight after it had been brewed - and a charcoal oolong sold elsewhere on this site.Of the three, I like this best. The charcoal oolong had a very nice flavor, different, earthier and maybe ever so slightly more tasty, but I got about half the amount for the same price as this tea.I enjoy the taste. The strange thing about this, is that every now and again I feel like I get a hint of jasmine, although that isn’t listed anywhere. It’s sweeter than the charcoal oolong.I’m not even mentioning the flavorless famous loose tea brand in the short, square metal tin. It’s not even in the same category. I don’t think it’s even tea, frankly.I’m going to try different brands, but I’m going to repurchase this as well.

Not cheap, but worth it!

I am a big fan of oolong teas. I regularly buy vahdam brand, only because it is cheaper. This oolong costs more but it tastes luxurious. It's like a good brandy: you don't drink it often, but when you do you savor it. Love the taste! Will be buying it again occasionally after a bonus :)

Maybe not my cup of tea.

Review Short: price point to actual flavor is not worth it as a standalone tea.Out of vacuum sealed bag, the tea leaves themselves bear no fragrance.A worrying sign since I expect that either berry smell I get from black tea or the floral smell I get from other oolong teas.Time to brew:I warm my ceramic mug up with 205 F water.I put in a teaspoon of leaves into a small strainer and give it a quick wash using some more 205 F water from my water heater being very careful to scald the leaves but not to extract too much in the wash.I pour out the mug, place in leaves and go full up on the mug.Cover it and let sit for a few minutes. Checking every minute to see how it evolves.I get the black tea smell but the smell is pungent like a wet mop...Time to taste:I start with a airy slurp at the dismay of my family members. It's a muddled sour floral taste that is not bitter but it doesn't leave a sweet after taste like oolong or black tea either. It's this oily feel when drinking it and it feels like heartburn in the works after. I don't think I've been served a black tea, oolong tea, or black oolong tea of this caliber in any of the Taiwanese restaurants I've visited.Verdict:Maybe I am spoiled by the 103 TenRen King's Oolong tea for being "cheaper," more flavorful and fragrant. This can't really be compared to say English Breakfast black teas or Oolong teas.It sits subpar for any shapes you try to fit this tea into.I think this sits better as a mixer tea rather than a standalone.

Great flavor with reasonable price

It's good to know that I can get authentic Taiwanese tea in the states with reasonable price! I bought two flavors from this brand. Both comes with nice packaging and well-processed tea leaves. The flavor in Green oolong tea is mild and smooth. It really calmed me down from day-to-day work craziness. Overall I'm pleased with the quality and will recommend it to anyone who is looking for decent oolong tea.
