A cheaper way to make high quality hardcover dust jacket protectors
I have been using this film to make dust jacket protectors for my hardcover book collection, and could not be more happy with the results. The film's thickness, at 0.002, is the perfect thickness for creating the dust jacket covers. The thickness of the film allows the sheets that I cut from the roll to lie flat and curl free. The lack of curling alone makes working with this film a pure joy. The 0.002 thickness allows the film to be easily folded and stay folded in the positions that you desire. Although the film is very easy to work with, the thickness is still great at providing a high level of protection that I expect as a dust jacket protector. Lastly, the clear version of this film, which is what I have been using, is very transparent and clear. Because of this, my dust jacket covers look just as good as if there was no film over them.I initially purchased this film as an alternative to using Brodart's line of dust jacket protective film, due to Brodart's higher prices and expensive shipping cost ( $7.99 shipping, even with Prime!?!? ). On a related side note, if you intend to use this film to create dust jacket protectors, expect to get 11 or 12 normal size dust jackets covered when using the 12-foot roll. If you are considering using this film for the same reasons as I have, then you owe it to yourself to give this film a try.

film had some spots melted together
I wanted to use this for leather tooling patterns. I found that wax paper (the usual leather tooling pattern material) tore very easily when tracing the pattern onto leather. A friend recommended using mylar film as it would not tear under the stylus. For this purpose, the mylar film worked perfectly. It did not tear but the stylus was able to leave an impression through the film into the leather beneath. However, there were a couple of spots on the film roll that had been touched by something hot such that they melted together. In order to unroll the film past these points I had to cut the melted portion free with a knife. This left small holes in my pattern. Further, the melted spots made it difficult to unroll the film without tearing it.

Easy to use; tough quality
This film was easy to roll out, cut with scissors, and just pliable enough to wrap my hardcover books. The quality is outstanding; not too thick nor too thin. I found it easy to fold and press down, too. Excellent!

Great for Book Covers
So glad I discovered this. I use it to protect books' dust jackets. It's cheaper and more customizable than products designed for book covers, but works just as well. I do use scrapbook tape to keep the edges folded, but the tape doesn't touch the book itself and is not noticeable. Plus I tend to cut the pieces a bit short. If they were longer they'd probably stay folded naturally.

Good for Protecting Book Jackets
Bought this as a cheaper alternative to clear book wrap. It's been durable and easy to use on both book jackets and softcover books. Will continue to buy this to cover and protect my important books!
