Car Phone Mount - Cell Phone Holder for Your iPhone | Recommended for The Nexar Dash-cam App

Pros: (1) the mount sticks to my dash without issue. The bottom is a sort of odd combination of sticky and suction, but it works well. The sticky hasn't damaged my dash or left any weird stuff behind after moving it 3 times and about 2 weeks in the Florida sun. (2) the magnet mount is super handy for popping my phone on and off the mount with one hand. My last mount was one that squeezed the phone and, while it held tight, it took two hands to put the phone into or out of the mount.Con: the phone slips/turns while attached. The intention of this mount is for a dash cam, and the instructions with the app, very rightly, advise you to keep the phone plugged in to keep the battery topped off. However, after 10-20 min of being on the mount, driving only on paved roads, the phone has turned enough that I have to readjust it in the mount to keep full use of the dashcam function. I'm not sure if the issue is that the magnet isn't powerful enough or maybe the plates don't contain enough magnetic material. The supplied plates fit comfortably inside my and my wife's phone cases. We both have the thinnest Ottebox cases available for an iPhone 6S. Maybe if I put the plate on the outside of my case it would work better, but (a) only one of the two plates came with enough adhesive to actually stick it to something and (b) I am absolutely sure that either my pocket or my wife's purse would rip it from the case while pulling the phone out.As annoying as the sliding issue is, it's a minor one, hence 4 stars.

Purchased several at the same time to put one in eaxh vehicle since I also use the Nexar app. They are a bit disappointing. The suction cup is amazing and sticks super well which is usually an issue with other similar products. The issue is the magnetic holder. It claims to be able to hold an iPad! I have an iPhone 7 Plus and if even a small bump in the road is felt, the phone falls off the mount. My work around is I have placed the mount on the window so that it is very near the dashboard and just use it to hold the phone upright and in place while it actually sits on the dash. Not the stand alone mount I had hoped for up near the rearview mirror. I did write Nexar on the issue and received an apology back but no offer to return, refund, or improve the product. If you have a smaller phone, it may work for you, but iPhones or larger, may want to look elsewhere.

I purchased one of these mounts in the hopes of using it to use my iPhone as a dash cam, since it was inexpensive enough for me to take the chance. So far it has performed extremely well in my F-150 pickup. Video shot with my iPhone 6 has been of very high quality, with no noticeable shake or bounce. My biggest initial concern had to do with the suction mount itself. I have since found that to not be a problem. The suction cup is extremely sticky and, at least in my case, seems like it would be sufficient to hold the mount without engaging the suction. There is a bit of movement when the mount is just stuck on like this but once the suction is engaged it becomes very solid. My personal recommendation is to leave the mount in place if possible. I removed mine once and it was a bit of a struggle. It did come off cleanly though, and I do not worry about it falling off on its own. I am pleased enough with it that I recently ordered a second one to mount in our other vehicle.

I'll start with what I like. It is adjustable, the sticky part remains sticky despite how many times I move it from car to car. placing the phone on it is fool proof practically effortless. Im going to be getting another one for my wife's car soon as we both could benefit from having this accessory.I gave it 4 stars as it wasn't as effective with its hold on heavier, thicker phone cases. In order for it to work properly with a case such as the Otterbox defender, you might have to place the adhesive metal on the outside of the case vs on the inside as you would with a thinner phone case.Still a good product. it stuck really well the first time I placed it, but then decided to move it after a week of use. After removing it it never stuck very well to anything else again. It would hold for a a few hours, but would always fall at least one day in. After falling a number of times, I washed it to get rid of all the grime that stuck to the adhesive material to see if I couldn't get it functional again. Unfortunately, it never held as well as it did that first week I had it.If I was to redo this and place this in the right spot the first time I think that this problem wouldn't have happened. Worth a shot, but I don't want to spend another $7 to retry something that I know will continuously fall after the first time it comes off.

Really happy with this mount.I am an uber/lyft driver, and I mainly got this so that I can have an easier time connecting my phone to the car phone mount - they often have lots of moving parts and wiggle around a lot and this one is very reliable. My mom constantly uses my car and she finds it to be a relief.In terms of "installing", the only thing I had to do was place the magnet (which has the glue on it already) to the back of my phone. Sometimes I put a case over it but the magnet is thin enough that it is not a big deal. The company that makes this mount also makes an app called Nexar, which I have been using and it seems great - my friend said she has seen many cab drivers using it as well. I am using an iphone, which despite its rather heavy weight snapped to the magnet immediately.

So the mount itself works great, it holds strong even over large bumps. The only issues I have is I bought it to use with the Dash car cam app for iOS, and when using it I can't really get it to look straight out the windshield without either having a slight tilt (so not looking straight on) or having the mount appear in the top corner of the video. Maybe I just dont know how to configure it thought. Anywho, I have a case so I used the metal strip and it works flawlessly.
