Great product for reference
I will graduate from a Dietetics program in April this year and I have loved having this book as a quick reference. It has a lot of good information and it is written in a way that is much easier to understand than a lot of nutrition text books. This is a book I love to look at if I want a brief overview of a concept before reading more in depth. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in nutrition.

Food for the soul
I really liked the information in this book. I have been researching a lot about eating clean and healthy and I found this book to be filled with some of the best nutritional facts. The information was written plain, simple and straight to the point. I can tell that it was well thought out and was written so the reader can learn and grow.If I had a scale to rate this book, I would definitely give it a 7.

very informational book!
I had the older version of this book and it was great. This version they have updated to my plate instead of mypyrimid and updated a lot of the nutritional information. I have read the first 3 chapters so far and even for a nutrition book I find it interesting. I am 16 years old and am taking a nutrition class in school and this is our main textbook. The only thing I would like for them to change is that it is soft back. Other than that it is a great book especially for its price.

Beyond disappointing
This book angers me greatly. The content is very obviously written in a way to hide the systemic problems in our food supply. If you research the American Dietetic Association, recently renamed Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, you will find that it has been co-opted by the giant multinational corporations in the areas of pharmaceuticals, agriculture, chemicals and genetic engineering (including the synergy between gmo foods and herbicides/pesticides/biocides).The book uses the purposely misleading term "Biotechnology" to erase the line between age old selective breading and the vastly contrasted genetic engineering. The section raises none of the concerns, risks, controversies and proven harmful impacts of gmo foods and the involved farming practices. Instead it paints a completely rosy picture claiming that the foods are healthier and the farming practices more environmentally friendly, which couldn't be further from the truth. The book generally does not cite any sources so you cannot check on their dubious or outright false claims, such as "Bottled water generally isn't fluoridated", "It's also important for bone health", "Tea may supply fluoride, which helps strengthen tooth enamel, if it's made from fluoridated water." (No mention that tea tends to have high levels of fluoride from polluted soil and water, which is common in low quality tea originating in china which is very common in bottled tea drinks)"Research suggests that any benefits from a vitamin C supplement may be the placebo effect". Wow.I've only had this book in front of me for an hour. While it certainly will contain plenty of reasonable mainstream information, it is designed to keep people in the dark about the huge problems plaguing the contemporary conventional "wisdom" of nutrition.

By far the best BASIC nutrition book!
to start with am a nutrition student and this is by far the best BASIC nutrition book that i ever read, this book is for people who want to start with nutrition from zero as it includes the general and most (want-to-know) information about nutrition like (what is carbohydrate? protein, fat,potassium...how they work in your body, their food sources and much more )simply it includes information that will make everything easier later on so if you are like me asking for basic nutrition than go for it you will never regret it..

Health nut
This book has everything I would want to ever know about health and fitness information, As all the facts are coming from registered dietitians, you will not have to second guess what the truth is. This is a big book, so it is not exactly a light read. If you love soaking up health information and lifestyle tips, this book is for you!!

A must for people just diagnosed
Complete and detailedThis is a must for someone who is serious about beating / controlling diabetes and not completely placing yourself in a vault of despair thinking you cannot eat the foods you normally would. It shows you how to modify your diet and eating habits to conform to a healthier way of life.
