It has enjoyed the world's longest period of popularity of any dinnerware pattern produced by a single company. The Rose Rugosa, rugged wild rose of poem and song was a natural design selection. The character of the bloom with its simple delicate petals made it adaptable to hand painting. This beautiful handpainted pattern is still one of America's favorite casual tableware patterns. In 1964 the sixty millionth piece had been produced and Desert Rose is now on display in the historical Smithsonian Museum. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy chose Franciscan Desert Rose for use in the White House. In Desert Rose, the irregularly scalloped edge of thorny vines creates a believable frame for the fully opened pink roses with their golden centers and soft green leaves. The softness of the design is further enhanced by its cream colored background. All pieces are microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. Accessories are also available.

I just recently purchased the 28 piece Franciscan ware. I needed to add to what I already have. I was disappointed that it was not an exact match to what I have but it is close enough I decided to keep it so I can continue using the set. I just set the table today for company with both old and new and I don't think any one noticed the difference.

My favorite dishes !
I already owned a set of these dishes but when I found out they were not manufacturing them I got on line to find them, one set left on Amazon .. And I got it !! I love these because unlike the original dessert rose dishes these are dishwasher safe, microwaveable and oven proof. My aunt has some original dessert rose they have been the apple of my eye since I was a little girl however they are hand painted and you could never use them for everyday like the ones I have and I do ! No trouble with shipping everything in one piece. Love them!

I don't understand why I buy things on Amazon the first day I see what I am looking for everyday since I purchased this set it has decreased in price next time I will wait a week and then buy at lowest price

Beautiful dishes
I needed a few dishes to complete my set and they were a great match with my original. They matched very nicely and they have a beautiful shimmer.
