Ridiculous!
This is required by JetBlue to take your pet with you in the cabin under the seat. They require the cat be able to stand. The average height of a standing cat is 9" and this is only 8" high. But, when you go to put it under the seat, there's only 6" of space or less, when you consider the life vest that's hanging under the seat. The cat I transported in this hated it! She was fine in a somewhat larger plastic pet carrier. I used that as a carry on, placing it in the overhead bin (don't EVER put a pet in the overhead bin. She was in this lousy carrier under the seat.) Then, I transferred her from this crappy carrier into the plastic one, in the lav, right before deplaning. This was the second carrier I had to buy for the trip. The first one was bitten and clawed through. VERY flimsy and cheap plastic mesh is easy to tear through. Also, there are 2 openings with zippers. You MUST have something to clip the zippers together with if you expect the pet not to open the carrier by themselves. I discovered this after a quick stop at the rest area only to return to the car with the cat sitting in the driver's seat! Luckily, I had her in a harness and strapped to the inside of the carrier, the one good feature of this thing! A harness connected to the carrier is a must. If you have to use this to transport your pet, good luck and God Bless! I WON'T be doing so again!

A great travel experience
After reading the reviews I was worried they may be horrible smelling, too small, or terrible overall. I was wrong. The 2 I bought were brand new, smelled new (plasticky/nylony) and were exactly the size they claim to be in the description. We have two 10lbs cats, one small and chubby, the other bigger with longer legs. The cats flew well, (behaved better than in the hard carriers), considering they did a 5 hour flight a delayed connection and a 2h20min flight. The carriers are still standing strong. Has loads of pockets!Advice if flying: can't get a middle seat due to some heating device and they will not allow it; Get the seats with extra legroom; most airports have family toilets, look for one and let your pet stretch their legs; Carry pet wipes and training pads, accidents happen so be prepared; carry treats, cat nip or put a used shirt in the carrier, but it is usually not recommended to drug your pet; and most important, talk to your vet about travel plans!

GREAT PURCHASE
We just got this pet carrier today and we are very happy with it. Our dog weights 7 pounds, went in the bag right away and she LOVED IT!!The measurements are perfect for the space under the seat, the fabric is pretty sturdy and is definetly NOT a flimsy bag like other ones we have purchased. It also has lots of pockets to place snacks, baggies, etc. The best carrier I have purchased in a very long time and we do travel requently with her. We definetly recommended!

Nice bag
Nice bag. Fit perfectly under the seat in front of me on JetBlue. My 5 month old shih tzu was fine in it. She had enough space to stand and turn around in it. She slept the entire flight. Lots of pockets for treats and a foldable bowl.

Entirely too small for comfort
Handle imprinted with a 17 lb. limit..what a joke! My 8 pound Havapoo was squeezed in to the point of being uncomfortable. Seemed to be well made for a small cat or a toy size dog. Also...not required by Jet Blue! On my Jet Blue flights people had much larger carriers that must have been fine at their feet, not under the seats. I returned it today...

Cheaper than buying from their website
I bought this on Amazon because it was cheaper than buying directly from Jet Blue. It is small and my dog is just a *little* too tall for it, but when he lays down the carrier he fits well and seems comfortable. He was really not into it at first, but I did a lot of training with it before I took him on the plane. I would leave it open on the couch and throw his toys into it so he would feel comfortable getting into it on his own. I also drove him around in it and he actually does better in the car when he's in the carrier than when he's on his own. I always made sure to take him in the carrier to "happy places" like the dog park so he doesn't feel stressed in it. I flew home with him for the holidays and I didn't have any problems at all. He stayed quiet the whole plane ride and while we were waiting in the airport. When we were taking off and landing I kept him on the floor under the chair in front of me, but during the ride I kept the bag on my lap and let his head stick out once in a while. It was much easier than I thought it would be to travel with him.

Little Dog Did Well
The bag did the job. I flew Spirit Airlines and this bag met their requirements. My dog is 6 lbs and tiny. He was trained the week before by using this bag in the car for trips to the park and other places. We placed him in the bag and then under the car seat.In the plane, he did well after a tiny freak out. A pee pad was placed as a liner below the cardboard bottom (which is covered in a dark fabric) just in case.Be sure to check your airports for dog relief areas, have pee pads and cleaning supplies and tire out your pooch before the flight. Try to get a direct flight, if possible. This bag has many pockets to ensure poo bags, a little food, water bowl, pet documents and other items are with you. Pack food in case you have a delay.

my big cat fits perfectly and comfortably inside; Maya weighs around 13 pounds
Even though it seems kind of small at a glance, my big cat fits perfectly and comfortably inside; Maya weighs around 13 pounds. At least mine didn't had a strong smell like other reviews have mentioned, so that was no problem. It seems sturdy enough to hold my cat's weight, nice craftsmanship and good materials and has extra pockets to carry some of your "fur baby" stuff. I love the fact that it has a leash clip so you can leave the top opened without your pet go roaming around, a hard bottom with a removable cover (so you can wash it if needed), also a side opening. I got this because we travel on JetBlue and have heard stories about issues when traveling with pets. Haven't had no issues so far & expect not to.
