I only left the shaving cream or gel world for the brush and soap method about 18 months ago, using a van der Hagen badger brush and their soap. Decided to try synthetic and decided to go big with The Hulk, and also got an excellent tallow-based shaving soap (Sir Hare). My first shave with that combo was so incredible that I found myself giggling during it - yes, they made shaving fun! The brush is amazing - perfect combination of soft tips but enough firmness in the shaft of the fibers to readily work up a great lather apply it easily. I've read that a downside of synthetic brushes is they don't retain water as well as natural ones, but I found this not to be an issue with this brush. And the size of The Hulk speeds lathering and application on your face. I've actually gotten out of bed looking forward to shaving every day since getting The Hulk.

I purchased this shaving brush to put on display with some of my shaving implements. I am making a Teakwood stand for it to rest in. If you wanted to use it, you would need a salad bowl and about 50 ml of shaving cream for lathering. You might be shaving the back of an offensive tackle or a fullback, and would be using an 8/8 straight razor. I love it and it looks beautiful.

This is big brush, big big: it produces lots and lots of lather. Like most of you I have other shaving brushes, a few cheaper - a few way more expensive.The Hulk has become the shaving brush I now want to use. The only problem is finding a way to hang it up by the large handle upside-down, so it will dry out. I went to home Depot and got a small Dewalt clamp which I attached to a towel bar. It ain't pretty, it's industrial looking - but it works Other than that, a great monster lathering brush.
