World Imports 1661-89 Old Sturbridge 9-Light Indoor/Outdoor Lantern, Bronze

My fiancé and I fell in love with this fixture for our newly renovated house. It was delivered by common carrier and I knew we were in trouble the second I saw the box. The gage of cardboard was completely inadequate for the item and there were four small pieces of Styrofoam to protect the glass panels. Three of the four panels arrived broken. Amazon was terrific as always with a return, but we still wanted the light fixture. One of the national home improvement stores also offered this item on a special order delivered straight to the store. For some reason I thought that might be a safer bet so we ordered it there. After THREE more damaged items (one with all four panels broken), we were ready to give up. But we asked the store's manager if he could hold on to a couple of the fixtures and order one more. That way when it came in damaged, we could simply swap out the broken panels with the good panels found in the other fixtures. Long story short, after an hour and a half in the stockroom, we were finally able to piece together an undamaged fixture from three of them! It looks great in our foyer, but can't imagine how this company makes any money or ever delivers a unit that isn't damaged given the completely inadequate packaging. Just be warned if you're going to order this, the chances of it arriving in one piece are almost non existent.

We were considering using this type of light for our new house, so I ordered 3 sample units (this item plus two other models) from the same supplier to check quality and performance before ordering the total Quantity.Unfotunately the glass shades of all items arrived broken, and the cartoon packaging (from China) was very bad and very poor quality. My guess is that all the items were originally received damaged from China and the seller didn't bother to check any of them before delivery.The Quality of manufacture is also flimsy and substandard but I guess it is compatible with the price. Higher quality lights are much more expensive.All in all I must say that I cannot recommend this light to anybody looking for a quality light fitting but should you like the price then beware there is a high risk of receiving the unit damaged and you will have to go thru the agony of returning it. A very large unit in very bad packaging.
