Important for my art library
Love this book! Easy to use and she doesn't leave out little important steps but also leaves room for you to make all the projects your own. This wonderful author has perhaps restored my faith in humanity because of her willingness to share her beautiful gift of art and love for people. May she be blessed. The projects are so much fun and each one includes a new step in the learning process. This book is a " recipe" - follow it and it WILL turn out right!

Disappointed
If you have great spatial ability you will be able to hand draw the body parts THEN you can create your project. That part didn’t appeal to me.A great job in demonstrating her unique and ingenious recipe but I would strongly avoid heating up linseed oil inside a home or garage. Dangerous fumes. Respirator folks.

Great information to get you started
After browsing through the book I am confident, as a paper mache novice, that I could create a sculpture of any animal I can picture. Very well written. Good balance of photos. Just enough information and lots of backup provided through the artist's website, youtube, etc. Great price for all of the information you are getting.

The BEST Book!
This book is excellent for showing concepts and techniques for making animal sculptures with paperclay mache. Not only that, Jonnie Good has made some excellent You-Tube tutorials on paperclay mache sculpturing. She is such a gentle and kind person when doing those tutorials, and watching her you can just feel her passion. Her lessons are easy to follow, but what I love most about her, she gives her students the option to do their own thing. She never pressures you to do exactly what she is doing, and she does not dictate outcomes. She encourages you to be independent making your own sculptures. Her paperclay mache recipes are the best you can find, and many artist are now using her paperclay mache homemade recipe. If you are interested working with paper mache clay then buy this book, also look for her webpage. I hope she is making plans to write another book, I will be the first person standing in line. I cannot tell you enough, Ms. Good is truly an excellent artist with tremendous talent. She has developed an individual style that is hard to beat. Buy her book and visit her webpage. You won't be sorry.

Inspirational
I can't wait to gather the materials and start sculpting! This book is incredibly easy to follow, so maybe even I can find my "inner sculptor". The projects are well laid out and the instructions are easy to follow. Most items are readily available in any craft person's home. The additional items needed are inexpensive and easy to find. Nicely written and easy to understand.

Love it
I love working with the homemade paper mache recipes as described in this book. It is a very simple step by step book of instructions that are very easy to follow. I used a different method of construction for the armatures than what this artist uses, but I like to apply a skin of the paper mache clay over top of them. It saves me a lot of money to make my own rather than buy the pre-made paper mache clay and the recipes for the clay and the home made gesso are very good and easy to follow. I just finished my first real project which looks quite professional. Because of the level of detail I was able to achieve with the paper mache clay, people who saw my project were very surprised when I told them it was paper mache.

Highly Informative!
A fabulous little book! So informative, with different techniques so easily explained. It is so delightful that the author is willing to share all her knowledge, and so helpful! You will love this book if you are into paper mache, or in my case, I am a sculptor and I am dying to try all of the ideas. The images are great and it is amazing what can be achieved. As a professional artist I can highly recommend this book as inspirational, with great instructions and images.

We made an actual size Emperor Penguin! -Fabulous book with great plans - non-arty person got quite good results. Kids thrilled.
What a fabulous book! We wanted to make a papier mache penguin so we used a pattern and the directions in this book and people tell us we did really well. I'm not very arty but the pattern was quite easy to transfer onto squares we drew onto some foam board. It took us some weeks but we got there. Because we made an actual size penguin we had to reinforce the feet quite a bit with a LOT of layers of papier mache and we even added a bit of thin plywood for more strength. The model is going into a school so we also reinforced the beak with a bit of metal coat hanger. And for extra realism we added some real glass eyes from an lovely specialist shop in Wales. If i did this again i'd use acrylic paint for everything! Much more expensive but it goes on much better.I should say we used the old school method of papier mache using strips of paper. In the book there is a more sophisticated method but we didn't try it.

Oh my!
When this book arrived my first thought was 'Oh dear' It is flimsy and cheap looking and I resigned myself to having made another Amazon boo boo.Nowhere near, boy was I wrong!! This book is a diamond, a nugget of genius. Jonni starts out with an amazing recipe for paper mache clay, and it is amazing. What really impressed me was that she gave the UK equivelant of the American items she was using. Great, no hunting around online trying to find the same item under a different name. After explaining ingredients and tools she moves onto her projects. No naff projects here I promise you, a fantastic pig, a folk arty type chicken, an elephant, the list goes on, Her armatures are the genius part, no bending wire, no taping up bubble wrap or balls of paper. I don't want to give it away because I think you shoudl buy this book and love it as much as I do.

Was a bit disappointed as I was looking for wild animals and got a dog a pig and a chicken but there was an elephant. I did not find it that clear but the book appears to claim that once you have used the techniques making these animals you can make any animal. To be fair I have not done this type of construction before and also went straight to the elephant as time was important. The clay is very easy to work with and I thoroughly enjoyed making the elephant but in the beginning be prepared for a little frustration.
