CX20 the flying bubble
Arrived a lot sooner than i would've thought shipping was 12 days. This is not my first multirotor but my first and last RTF in the multirotor family. I've been flying a 250 for a while and really wanted to add a quadcopter to my group and start doing some aerial photo and video. I really wanted to tinker with this medium before making a bigger investment, so after looking at the phantom and checking out a friends....as well as watching have a mind of its own and crash on a beach, i started looking for alternatives. The front runners were the CX20, the Blade 350, and the Parrot AR drone at the time. Parrot's video quality is just laughable and its body was joke, Blade was way to sporty for steady video, and the CX20 being a phantom clone was a perfect choice. Out of the box after a run through with Mission Planner to do initial set up and a battery charge it flew amazing. Steady and sporty in the right spots. Its not a sports car but it has some power and enough aggression to handle 15-20 mph gusts. GPS functions of Loiter and return home work great with RTL having only 10 foot average deviation after a series of 20 launches and RTL activations. Range with the stock TX and RX is pretty much exactly 800m, tested this on a firing range that has distance markers out to 1000 meters, very respectable and the TX is easily modded for range extension. Props can be upgraded to 9443's and even with stock props it will fly well with a gimbal. Battery compartment will fit up to 5000 mah, and the stock 2700 mah will give you around 10 minutes of flight.now for the bad.Landing gear are basically 2 pieces and under the rubber feet is where the joint is. they are just screwed together and the first hard landing on a hard surface will.....i repeat WILL...break them.GPS/Compass tower and dome. this plastic that makes the dome is fragile and will break, mine from transport.Over all body durability...Horrible. from a hard landing i had not only damaged landing gear but stress cracks in the body as well. After clipping a tree with the right front prop i was sent into a tumble from 20 feet up, its first and only hard crash after 8 months of ownership and the body was destroyed. Replacement bodies are $65-$75. So instead of spending that much, I trashed all of the CX20 except its squash mount, Flight controller which is an APM 2.5.2, the receiver and transmitter, and the motors. With new ESC's and a $15 f450 frame I know have one bad ass quadcopter. In summary...if you're new to the hobby..this is a good quad to upgrade too, not a good quad to learn on, for that try a Syma X5C or JJRC X8. over all durability is very lacking, assembly is okay. Motor performance and apm performance are above average. Be prepared to spend a good amount of time messing with calibrations and parameters. If this intimidates you, dont' worry, you'll find tons of groups and communties on line from forums to facebook groups that will be there to give great tech advice. if you're looking for a quad to break into the medium of aerial photograhy and video and you have some flight experience under your belt already then this is a good choice and an awesome price point, and when you wreck it...which will eventually happen to everyone one a long enough timeline...don't think it wont....you can either replace the body or build into a very agile and decent lifting 450 or even 500 size quad.

Great beginner quad
Great beginner quad. I installed a gimbal and camera and was very pleased. I ran into a few issues though. The rth function barely worked, GPS was s***ty at best, and altitude hold was a full power ascent. This quad got me trained how to fly and I have since moved on. I would not purchase again due to these issues alone. After a while I noticed a rattling upon landing. Turns out the capa itors on the bec board fell off. Kind of ridiculous right?!?! Finally after a crash into a tree I cracked the body and so I just scrapped it for parts. I kept all the parts, hopefully they will work for a future build. 3 stars just because I'm feeling generous and I am still using alot of the parts.

Great quad for the price
Great quad for the price. Does everything the Dji does. I used the software and changed the tilt and this thing really moves now. Had it about 400 feet and got some great video. The body is stronger than you think. All dji motors and props are compatible. I switch out motors for dji motors and props . This is not a beginner drone.

Great for the price, replace battery and charger ASAP.
It's great. It's a low-medium end drone, but that's what you are paying for. It comes with an off-brand lipo and low quality charger, which can be hazardous. I recommend getting new battery and charger BEFORE THE FIRST FLIGHT.

Great
Great quadcopter. Its has a lot more power than I thought. Takes some setting up but once you learn how to use mission planner its amazing what you can do with it.

Very poor quality control
Very poor quality control, 2 of the motor post were cross threaded with prop nuts that did not fit the post or supplied wrench. The supplied charger is not United States compatible. $300.00 down the drain.

just like it took me 35 years ago flying real helicopters
The Cheerson CX20, is offered in 3 versions, 'Shark'...'Zero' and 'Open Source'. The Shark, and Zero, are mainly the same, they were intended for the novice, however, the 'Open Source' was intended for professionals, or advanced fliers.......Important to note...I am a licensed FAA -2018- helicopter pilot now semi-retired 2 years. I started flying first time a quadcopter last September, 2015. Long story short, since that time, I have crashed, lost to the wind, experienced 'toilet-bowl' effect...broken many blades, and have spent money......Recently I have bought a most advanced quad, a DJI Phantom 4........Here is my conclusion about quads.......Everybody wants to fly one...as I have too...I have spent since January 2016 refining quad flying. This is a hobby...there is no instant gratification for successful flights. However, successful flights are possible, one must read and teach themselves. Now into my 4th month, and with two Cheerson CX20's and a DJI Phantom 4, the three can only fly well after education...just like it took me 35 years ago flying real helicopters. The CX20 will fy correctly and fly well...but only after you learn.
